We've visited Matisov Domik twice now and are already counting down the days to return. Each guest received bottled water upon arrival, plus a cozy robe — small touches that made a big difference. The lobby is beautifully adorned with art, giving the place an elegant, cultural vibe. Breakfast was exceptional — diverse, delicious, and always satisfying, especially the mouthwatering baked casserole. They even cooked eggs to order when requested. The rooms are incredibly quiet, thanks to excellent sound insulation, and the beds and pillows provided a restful night's sleep every time. There’s also private parking on-site, which is a huge plus for those traveling by car. We were pleasantly surprised by the included dinner — such a convenient and welcoming gesture. On our first visit, we checked in late at night, and the staff kindly packed a takeaway dinner for us at checkout the next morning. That unexpected care really stood out — proof of their professionalism and attention to detail. It felt like being treated like valued guests, leaving behind warm memories and a strong desire to come back again.

Honestly, it’s hard to find any flaws because everything was just perfect. This is more than a hotel—it felt like a home away from home. I highly recommend Herzen House to anyone visiting Saint Petersburg who wants an unforgettable experience.

I appreciated the mosquito repellent unit, which had a cleverly placed outlet near the window frame—though we didn’t end up using it, the idea itself was quite inventive. Bathrobes, disposable slippers, and a set of crisp white towels were all included—everything you’d want for a comfortable stay. We stayed on the third floor with a view into the quiet courtyard, and despite being in the heart of the city, the room was incredibly quiet. No noise from neighbors at all—earplugs weren’t even needed, though they were provided just in case. The lounge area on our floor has a cozy seating zone with sofas, ideal for relaxing after a long day. Breakfast at the ground-floor restaurant was outstanding—fresh, varied, and delicious. Think sausages, hot dogs, scrambled eggs, small Russian pancakes with cottage cheese, cheese cakes with sour cream, condensed milk, and black currant jam—plus tea, coffee, pastries, yogurt, porridge, and more. Everything tasted homemade and freshly made. The artistic metal staircases and wall installations throughout the floors are truly unique, adding a modern industrial charm to the hotel. I’ve already recommended this place to friends—and if I ever return to St. Petersburg, I’ll definitely come back here.
