Staying at Wawelberg Hotel was an absolute highlight of my trip to St. Petersburg. The location is unbeatable—just across the street from the Hermitage Museum, making it incredibly convenient to explore the city on foot. I especially appreciated the minibar, which was restocked daily and completely free—no extra charges, just pure convenience. The bathroom was luxurious and comfortable, adding to the overall pleasant experience. Breakfast was a mixed bag: the ingredients were fresh and high-quality, and the à la carte menu was beautifully presented. However, the flavors didn’t quite live up to expectations—while the presentation was stellar, the taste was underwhelming, and after three consecutive days, it started to feel repetitive. Still, this minor drawback doesn’t take away from the exceptional value and comfort this hotel offers. For great location, elegant design, and thoughtful touches, Wawelberg Hotel earns every bit of its top rating.

We stayed overnight at the Aparthotel Vertical in St. Petersburg, booking the Popova apartment for a team of seven athletes plus our coach. The space was more than sufficient for eight people—no crowding at all—and the photos truly matched reality. The soundproofing in the unit is excellent; even with loud music outside, we couldn’t hear anything when the door was closed. The kitchenette is fully equipped with a sink, stove, refrigerator, microwave, kettle, cutlery, and a complete set of dishes—including dessert plates, dinner plates, and a salad bowl—for everyone. Everything was clean and well-maintained. Bed linens were crisp white and fresh, and the pillows and duvet provided great comfort. One small note: the upper-level bedrooms felt a bit warm during the night. Adding an air conditioner or installing a skylight-style window could help improve ventilation. The hotel also features a Belgian restaurant with an impressive selection of Belgian beers. You can access it either from inside the building or directly from the street—a convenient touch. Staff at reception were friendly and helpful. In the lobby, right across from the front desk, there’s a large aquarium filled with turtles and other aquatic life. If you’re waiting to check in, it’s nice to just relax and watch the fish swim around. Overall, the stay left a very positive impression. I’d definitely recommend this place to friends and would happily return.

Breakfast was exceptional — diverse, delicious, and always satisfying, especially the mouthwatering baked casserole. They even cooked eggs to order when requested. The rooms are incredibly quiet, thanks to excellent sound insulation, and the beds and pillows provided a restful night's sleep every time. There’s also private parking on-site, which is a huge plus for those traveling by car. We were pleasantly surprised by the included dinner — such a convenient and welcoming gesture. On our first visit, we checked in late at night, and the staff kindly packed a takeaway dinner for us at checkout the next morning. That unexpected care really stood out — proof of their professionalism and attention to detail. It felt like being treated like valued guests, leaving behind warm memories and a strong desire to come back again.
