Rinn Kyoto Miyagawasuji hitotose Aki

Staying at this hotel was absolutely one of the best decisions I made during my trip to Kyoto. The location is perfect—just a short walk from major attractions like Gion and Fushimi Inari, and public transportation is super convenient. The building itself won a design award, and it shows in every detail—from the thoughtful layout to the elegant finishes. My room had a private bathroom, but what really stood out was the on-site Japanese-style bath with a soaking tub, plus an outdoor hot spring pool that felt magical under the night sky. The room also came stocked with drinks including beer, wine, and coffee, and even had a high-end fridge and a laundry machine—so much convenience! It’s rare to find such a peaceful yet well-equipped retreat in the heart of Kyoto. I’d come back in a heartbeat.

Rinn Horikawa Gojo

Staying at Rinn Horikawa Gojo was an absolutely unforgettable experience. Located in a quiet, serene part of Kyoto, it feels like stepping into a peaceful retreat far from the city's hustle and bustle. The room was surprisingly spacious—almost three times the size of a typical business hotel—offering incredible comfort and freedom to move around. Every detail, from the minimalist Japanese design to the high-quality furnishings, added to the sense of calm and elegance. I came here solo for a relaxing getaway, and this space was perfect for unwinding and truly connecting with Kyoto’s quiet beauty. Rinn Kitagomon

Stumbled upon this Rinn chain stay through a group deal and ended up booking for my August trip to Kyoto—staying at both the Miyakawa-chō and Rinn locations. I was surprised to find several Rinn properties nearby, making it easy to bump into them while exploring on foot. The location is fantastic: just a short walk from Gion, Shijō, and Nishiki Market, with charming backstreets that really capture the essence of Kyoto. Being close to the Kamo River adds a peaceful vibe—especially in the evenings when everything’s quiet and serene. It’s the perfect balance of urban convenience and tranquil retreat. The building has an elevator (great for luggage), and the rooms are spacious enough for comfort, complete with tatami mats where you can sit, sip tea, and chat. On the ground floor, there’s a self-service station for toiletries, plus coin laundry, water dispensers, ice machines, and even a microwave. Just 200 meters away is the Gion-Shijō subway station, and right next door is a FamilyMart—perfect for grabbing milk or breakfast items late at night. Both Rinn properties come equipped with Nespresso machines, and during my three-night stay at Miyakawa-chō, I got two free coffee capsules per day from reception. Everything was thoughtfully provided and super convenient. Compared to regular rates in August, this group deal offered incredible value—definitely one of the best finds of my trip. Would absolutely return.

Public transportation is convenient, and everything feels so well-connected. I appreciated the warm hospitality and thoughtful touches throughout my stay. This place offers incredible value and charm—definitely my top pick for Kyoto, and I’ll be back without hesitation. Highly recommended!

Rinn Miyagawacho Tsubaki

Staying at this traditional machiya in Miyagawacho was such a delightful experience for our family exploring Kyoto. It's just a 5-minute walk to the Keihan Line Shijō-Imadegawa Station—perfect for day trips to Nara and Uji—and only 10 minutes on foot to Shijo Gion, with easy access to Kyoto National Museum and Yasaka Shrine. The check-in process is a bit unique: we had to go to a front desk near Kyoto Station (a 10-minute walk), where staff arranged a short ride to the machiya entrance. It’s seamless and well-coordinated. The house is two stories: upstairs features two rooms—one with tatami mats and another with Western-style twin beds—each with its own private bathroom. Downstairs includes a foyer, kitchen, living area, a separate toilet, and a spacious bathroom with a washing machine. Great for preparing light meals or snacks. That said, the original wooden staircase is quite steep, so elderly guests or those with mobility issues should proceed carefully. Overall, it’s an authentic, charming, and highly convenient stay that captures the true spirit of Kyoto. Perfect for travelers who value local character and practicality.

Staying at Rinn Gion Kenninji Villa was an absolute delight. The room was spacious, immaculately clean, and beautifully designed with authentic Japanese aesthetics—immediately creating a peaceful, calming atmosphere. I especially loved the private bathtub; soaking in it after a long day of exploring Kyoto was pure bliss. The location is excellent—just a short walk to Gion and close to major attractions like Kiyomizu-dera, yet tucked away in a quiet neighborhood. Public transport access is convenient, and there are plenty of local shops and eateries nearby. It’s perfect for families—comfortable, roomy, and truly immersive in traditional Japanese style. This stay offered both relaxation and cultural authenticity, making it a standout experience. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a genuine, serene getaway in Kyoto.

Six Senses Kyoto

Staying at Six Senses Kyoto was an absolute highlight of my trip to Japan. From the moment I walked in, the warm and thoughtful Japanese hospitality stood out—staff were polite, attentive, and genuinely welcoming without being overbearing. The hotel itself feels fresh and modern, with a strong emphasis on sustainability woven into every detail, from the food and drinks to the design. I couldn’t book the spa (it’s famously popular), but the on-site hot spring was a wonderful alternative—perfect for unwinding after a long day. The omakase restaurant downstairs was an unforgettable experience; watching the chef craft each piece of sushi with such precision and care felt like art in motion. Even though I had the place mostly to myself during dinner and drinks at the bar, service remained impeccable and personal. Breakfast was a half-self-service spread—I enjoyed the Western-style options, though the omelette could’ve been fluffier. The Japanese rice was excellent, and while other dishes were just average, the welcome fruits and little pastries added a sweet touch, even if they didn’t quite hit the mark flavor-wise. A small disappointment: no welcome champagne, but that’s just a minor note in what was otherwise a flawless stay. If you’re looking for a serene, eco-conscious retreat with exceptional service and culinary charm, this is it.

Loisir Hotel Kyoto Toji

The location is excellent—just a short walk from Kyoto Station, making it super convenient for exploring the city and getting around by train. The hotel is spotlessly clean with all the essentials you’d expect, and the room amenities are well thought out. The only minor downside is that the two beds are placed side by side, which might not be ideal if you prefer more space between sleeping areas. One thing to note: after booking online, there’s an additional tax to pay upon check-in—I initially thought it was a deposit and even asked the front desk for a refund at checkout, only to get a confused look in return! Lesson learned. Also, if you want housekeeping service, make sure to place a sign outside your door—unlike some hotels back home, they don’t automatically assume cleaning is needed. Overall, this is a great stay with strong value for money, especially given the central location and clean, modern rooms. I’d definitely recommend it.

The room was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped with modern amenities. I appreciated the quiet atmosphere and the thoughtful touches that made the experience feel personal. Being just steps away from local charm and culture made the whole trip even more memorable.
