Upon arrival, we were greeted with a welcome fruit platter that included juicy watermelon, which was such a nice touch, especially during the summer months. The bed was incredibly comfortable, making for a restful night’s sleep. Cleanliness, attention to detail, and warm staff service all contributed to a memorable stay. It’s rare to find such a high level of quality combined with excellent location and value. If you’re visiting St. Petersburg, this is definitely a top choice—I’d happily book here again.

We stayed overnight at the Aparthotel Vertical in St. Petersburg, booking the Popova apartment for a team of seven athletes plus our coach. The space was more than sufficient for eight people—no crowding at all—and the photos truly matched reality. The soundproofing in the unit is excellent; even with loud music outside, we couldn’t hear anything when the door was closed. The kitchenette is fully equipped with a sink, stove, refrigerator, microwave, kettle, cutlery, and a complete set of dishes—including dessert plates, dinner plates, and a salad bowl—for everyone. Everything was clean and well-maintained. Bed linens were crisp white and fresh, and the pillows and duvet provided great comfort. One small note: the upper-level bedrooms felt a bit warm during the night. Adding an air conditioner or installing a skylight-style window could help improve ventilation. The hotel also features a Belgian restaurant with an impressive selection of Belgian beers. You can access it either from inside the building or directly from the street—a convenient touch. Staff at reception were friendly and helpful. In the lobby, right across from the front desk, there’s a large aquarium filled with turtles and other aquatic life. If you’re waiting to check in, it’s nice to just relax and watch the fish swim around. Overall, the stay left a very positive impression. I’d definitely recommend this place to friends and would happily return.

Each guest received bottled water upon arrival, plus a cozy robe — small touches that made a big difference. The lobby is beautifully adorned with art, giving the place an elegant, cultural vibe. Breakfast was exceptional — diverse, delicious, and always satisfying, especially the mouthwatering baked casserole. They even cooked eggs to order when requested. The rooms are incredibly quiet, thanks to excellent sound insulation, and the beds and pillows provided a restful night's sleep every time. There’s also private parking on-site, which is a huge plus for those traveling by car. We were pleasantly surprised by the included dinner — such a convenient and welcoming gesture. On our first visit, we checked in late at night, and the staff kindly packed a takeaway dinner for us at checkout the next morning. That unexpected care really stood out — proof of their professionalism and attention to detail. It felt like being treated like valued guests, leaving behind warm memories and a strong desire to come back again.

Breakfast was excellent—plenty of variety, fresh, and delicious. Every little touch showed how much care went into making our stay special. Honestly, it’s hard to find any flaws because everything was just perfect. This is more than a hotel—it felt like a home away from home. I highly recommend Herzen House to anyone visiting Saint Petersburg who wants an unforgettable experience.

Staying at Casa Leto Mini-Hotel in Saint Petersburg felt like hitting the jackpot for location and comfort. The room we had (the largest one) was easily one of the biggest city hotel rooms I’ve ever stayed in—spacious enough for three or four people, with a curtain dividing it into two zones. Clean, warm, and tastefully decorated, it felt more like a home than a hotel. I especially appreciated the Motlon Brown shower products—they made the morning routine feel luxurious. Breakfast was continental, but they’ll cook scrambled or boiled eggs fresh upon request. What really stood out? Food and soft drinks were available all day long—perfect for a quick cup of tea and a slice of toast to warm up in the afternoon, all included in the room rate. And let’s talk about the free international calls to landlines from your room—this was something I’d never experienced before in a city hotel, and it was incredibly helpful. The staff were incredibly friendly and went out of their way to assist: they even helped us book dinner at Teplo (a must-try, just a 5-minute walk across from St. Isaac’s). We also left our bags behind for the whole day and returned later for a late-afternoon snack and tea before heading to Moscow—no hassle at all. This place truly delivers on comfort, convenience, and hospitality.

The hostel is conveniently located, with most attractions within walking distance—perfect for independent travelers who want to explore on foot. That said, the cleanliness and upkeep were a major disappointment. The white doors looked dirty and stained, clearly in need of a good wash or even repainting. The walls weren’t white anymore—they were dusty and discolored. Over the course of our week-long stay, we never saw any housekeeping: no linen changes, no towel replacements, not even a quick tidy-up. On the ground floor, renovation work seemed to have been done ages ago, but there’s no maintenance now—peeling wallpaper, water stains, and dust everywhere. It’s frustrating to see such basic neglect. A little effort in cleaning and minor repairs would go a long way. Instead of hanging distracting artwork on the walls, management should focus on fixing what’s already broken. Honestly, if it were cleaner and better maintained, I’d be more likely to recommend it. As it stands, it’s only worth considering if you’re on a tight budget and just need a place to sleep.

This place was a terrible experience from start to finish. The entire building reeked of mustiness—every room, every corridor, even the shared spaces had that stale, old-house smell. The laminate flooring was warped and peeling, clearly just a cheap cover-up for poor maintenance. Suspended ceilings made me suspect there was old plaster underneath, which likely contributed to the persistent odor. There were no air conditioners, no proper ventilation—just unbearable heat and stuffiness, especially in summer. The bedding was worn out, faded, and looked like it had been washed too many times. In the showers, there wasn’t even a single hook for clothes—completely impractical. The hostel spans multiple floors, but the kitchen is only on the second floor, and staff don’t arrive until 9 AM. If you’re heading out early for sightseeing, forget about making tea or coffee—you’ll need your own kettle. The management’s attitude was downright dismissive, bordering on rude. One response I got: "If you don’t like it, just leave." That kind of comment really soured the whole stay. Thankfully, they refunded my money without hassle—but honestly, the damage was already done. I felt drained and depressed after each day trip; coming back here felt like a chore. I booked through a company called Yulana, but when issues arose, both the hostel and the agency pointed fingers at each other. Neither took responsibility. No one was truly at fault, but that didn’t make the experience any better. Avoid this place if you value comfort, cleanliness, and basic respect.
