That said, the cleanliness and upkeep were a major disappointment. The white doors looked dirty and stained, clearly in need of a good wash or even repainting. The walls weren’t white anymore—they were dusty and discolored. Over the course of our week-long stay, we never saw any housekeeping: no linen changes, no towel replacements, not even a quick tidy-up. On the ground floor, renovation work seemed to have been done ages ago, but there’s no maintenance now—peeling wallpaper, water stains, and dust everywhere. It’s frustrating to see such basic neglect. A little effort in cleaning and minor repairs would go a long way. Instead of hanging distracting artwork on the walls, management should focus on fixing what’s already broken. Honestly, if it were cleaner and better maintained, I’d be more likely to recommend it. As it stands, it’s only worth considering if you’re on a tight budget and just need a place to sleep.

There were no air conditioners, no proper ventilation—just unbearable heat and stuffiness, especially in summer. The bedding was worn out, faded, and looked like it had been washed too many times. In the showers, there wasn’t even a single hook for clothes—completely impractical. The hostel spans multiple floors, but the kitchen is only on the second floor, and staff don’t arrive until 9 AM. If you’re heading out early for sightseeing, forget about making tea or coffee—you’ll need your own kettle. The management’s attitude was downright dismissive, bordering on rude. One response I got: "If you don’t like it, just leave." That kind of comment really soured the whole stay. Thankfully, they refunded my money without hassle—but honestly, the damage was already done. I felt drained and depressed after each day trip; coming back here felt like a chore. I booked through a company called Yulana, but when issues arose, both the hostel and the agency pointed fingers at each other. Neither took responsibility. No one was truly at fault, but that didn’t make the experience any better. Avoid this place if you value comfort, cleanliness, and basic respect.

We booked in advance with full payment, and on arrival day, the administrator reached out to me with all the access codes for the building and floor—super convenient. The apartment is just a 10-minute walk from Kazan Cathedral, so it’s truly in the heart of the city. The room is small but incredibly well-organized—no clutter at all, everything has its place. Despite the compact size, it’s packed with essentials: TV, air conditioning, mini-fridge, heater, microwave, closet with hangers, disposable slippers, a sink with glasses, kettle, and teacups. Outside the room, there are several washing machines in the hallway, plus an iron and ironing board—perfect for longer stays. The bathroom is spotless and thoughtfully equipped: hairdryer, air freshener, generous amounts of shampoo and body wash, and even a full set of disposable toothbrushes and toothpaste. We didn’t request cleaning during our 5-day stay, yet the room remained tidy throughout. No noise from neighbors—peaceful and quiet. The only minor note: the toilet is tucked between the shower and the wall, so someone with a hip measurement over 100 cm might feel a bit cramped. But overall? Absolutely thrilled with the experience. Clean, smartly designed, and great value. Highly recommend!
