English Bay Hotel

Staying at English Bay Hotel was an absolute highlight of my trip to Vancouver. The location couldn’t be better—right on the beach with ocean views from the room and a short walk to restaurants, shops, and even a local Chinese supermarket. I loved being able to grab fresh ingredients and cook a simple meal in the fully equipped kitchen. We warmed up milk and reheated bread using the microwave in the morning—so convenient! The Cambie Hostel Gastown

Staying at The Cambie Hostel Gastown was an excellent experience from start to finish. The room was spotlessly clean, compact but well-organized with comfortable bedding that made for a great night’s sleep. Common areas are thoughtfully designed—great kitchen facilities, working laundry machines, and free coffee available throughout the day. A small tip: bring your own toiletries, towel, and slippers as these aren’t provided, which makes things much more convenient. The location is unbeatable—just a short walk to the nearest subway station and right next to the iconic Steam Clock. It’s also super easy to get to North Vancouver without transfers. Whether you're exploring downtown or heading out on a day trip, this hostel offers both comfort and convenience at a fantastic value. Highly recommend for budget travelers and solo explorers alike.

Tropicana Suite Hotel

Staying at Tropicana Suite Hotel in Vancouver was an absolute delight. The location is perfect—just a short walk from the city center and close to transit, restaurants, and shops. While the hotel isn’t brand new, it’s impeccably clean and well-maintained. I was upgraded to a one-bedroom suite with a stunning city view overlooking the water and sunset—truly breathtaking. The staff went above and beyond: on the first night, I mentioned the room felt chilly, and within minutes, a warm blanket was brought up. Later, I noticed we’d forgotten to use a dish towel after cooking, so I didn’t wash the dishes. When housekeeping came by, they not only left two fresh dish towels but also took the time to wash the dishes for us—such a thoughtful touch! And when we checked out late due to our evening flight, they offered free luggage storage without hesitation. It’s rare to find such genuine care and attention to detail. This stay exceeded all expectations—comfortable, convenient, and memorable. I’ll definitely be returning next time I’m in Vancouver.

Hotel Ambassador - Hostel

The Ambassador Hostel in Vancouver is an outstanding choice for travelers seeking comfort and exceptional service. The spacious, airy rooms make for a relaxing stay, while the staff truly elevate the experience—especially Ionut in the kitchen and Silviu at the front desk. Both are incredibly kind, attentive, and always ready to help with anything you need. Their warm presence transforms what’s already a great 4-star hostel into something that feels like a five-star retreat. Easy access to downtown via public transit, clean facilities, and a welcoming atmosphere make this a top pick. I’ll definitely be back.

Budget Inn Patricia Hotel

I've stayed at the Patricia several times, and every visit has been marked by warm hospitality. However, I noticed the hotel is still listed for bookings on some platforms—this is no longer accurate. The property was sold to the city government about two years ago and converted into housing for those in need. If you're looking to book a room, I'd recommend checking out other nearby hotels instead. It's a shame the new management hasn't updated their website to reflect this change. Still, I'm grateful to the previous owners, Lindsey and the team, for creating such a welcoming space over the years. The pub side of the hotel remains open—live jazz every Thursday, great food, and that familiar cozy vibe. A true Vancouver gem, even if it’s no longer a hotel.

Embarc Vancouver

Staying at Embarc Vancouver was an absolute highlight! The view from the room is breathtaking—perfectly framed ocean and city skyline vistas that make every morning feel like a getaway. The lounge area is a real plus: complimentary tea, coffee, and light snacks available throughout the day, so you can relax without leaving the property. Since it's managed in partnership with Sheraton, cleanliness and service standards are top-notch—every corner feels fresh and well-maintained. From the comfortable bedding to the sleek bathroom design, everything speaks of attention to detail. This place truly delivers on comfort, convenience, and charm. I’d highly recommend it and will definitely be back.

EXchange Hotel Vancouver

Stayed at EXchange Hotel Vancouver for four nights and had a great experience overall. The rooms were spotlessly clean, staff were friendly and helpful throughout our visit. The only minor downside was the mattress—it’s quite soft, which is actually common across most hotels in Canada, especially if you have back issues. We ended up sleeping directly on the bed frame instead, which worked better for us. Location-wise, it’s excellent—both SkyTrain lines converge right nearby, making it super easy to get around the city without needing to transfer. One thing worth noting: water pressure is a bit low, but that’s something I’ve noticed in several Canadian hotels too, so it’s not unique here. All things considered, this place offers fantastic value, convenience, and comfort for travelers who want a central, no-fuss stay in Vancouver.

West End Guest House

Staying at West End Guest House felt like coming home—warm, welcoming, and full of charm. Kathy was incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to help with local tips and travel advice. My room was spotless, thoughtfully furnished, and so comfortable I barely wanted to leave. The atmosphere had that cozy, personal touch you don’t often find in bigger hotels. Breakfast by Barbara was a true highlight—creative and beautifully presented, almost too artistic to eat! That said, I personally would have loved a simpler English breakfast option alongside the gourmet dishes. Still, the overall experience was outstanding. From the location near downtown Vancouver to the thoughtful touches throughout, this place offers a genuine, intimate stay. If you're looking for something special and authentic, this is it. Definitely worth returning.
