The location is absolutely fantastic—just a 2-3 minute walk to the Hermitage Museum, and other major attractions are easily reachable with just a short bus ride. Getting to the railway station for Lake Ladoga or other destinations is also very convenient. It’s only about an 8-9 minute walk to the famous Bookstore, and there are fast food options like Burger King and McDonald’s nearby. There’s even a gift shop right on the ground floor. The only downside was that the photos provided by the platform were misleading—I thought I had to enter through the main entrance, but it’s actually a smaller side entrance. Once inside, the elevator makes getting to the 4th-floor front desk easy. One tip: if you’re tall, the loft-standard room might feel cramped. Upgrading to a regular flat-ceiling room is definitely worth it for more space and comfort. Overall, this place offers excellent value and a great stay in St. Petersburg.

That said, the cleanliness and upkeep were a major disappointment. The white doors looked dirty and stained, clearly in need of a good wash or even repainting. The walls weren’t white anymore—they were dusty and discolored. Over the course of our week-long stay, we never saw any housekeeping: no linen changes, no towel replacements, not even a quick tidy-up. On the ground floor, renovation work seemed to have been done ages ago, but there’s no maintenance now—peeling wallpaper, water stains, and dust everywhere. It’s frustrating to see such basic neglect. A little effort in cleaning and minor repairs would go a long way. Instead of hanging distracting artwork on the walls, management should focus on fixing what’s already broken. Honestly, if it were cleaner and better maintained, I’d be more likely to recommend it. As it stands, it’s only worth considering if you’re on a tight budget and just need a place to sleep.

This place was a terrible experience from start to finish. The entire building reeked of mustiness—every room, every corridor, even the shared spaces had that stale, old-house smell. The laminate flooring was warped and peeling, clearly just a cheap cover-up for poor maintenance. Suspended ceilings made me suspect there was old plaster underneath, which likely contributed to the persistent odor. There were no air conditioners, no proper ventilation—just unbearable heat and stuffiness, especially in summer. The bedding was worn out, faded, and looked like it had been washed too many times. In the showers, there wasn’t even a single hook for clothes—completely impractical. The hostel spans multiple floors, but the kitchen is only on the second floor, and staff don’t arrive until 9 AM. If you’re heading out early for sightseeing, forget about making tea or coffee—you’ll need your own kettle. The management’s attitude was downright dismissive, bordering on rude. One response I got: "If you don’t like it, just leave." That kind of comment really soured the whole stay. Thankfully, they refunded my money without hassle—but honestly, the damage was already done. I felt drained and depressed after each day trip; coming back here felt like a chore. I booked through a company called Yulana, but when issues arose, both the hostel and the agency pointed fingers at each other. Neither took responsibility. No one was truly at fault, but that didn’t make the experience any better. Avoid this place if you value comfort, cleanliness, and basic respect.
