The Inn at Sunset Cliffs
I booked this place as a birthday treat, and it was perfect—just a short walk from Sunset Cliffs. I called ahead to ask about early check-in, and the front desk staff was incredibly helpful and professional. They arranged for us to check in two hours early, even though housekeeping was still working on the room—great service! The room was spacious for two people, comfortably air-conditioned, and well-lit with thoughtful lighting. It came equipped with a microwave, mini-fridge, coffee maker, wine glasses, and even a bottle opener—perfect for a relaxed evening. The bathroom had all the essentials and felt clean and modern. The pool area and lounge furniture were a real highlight; we spent a good chunk of time just relaxing by the water, soaking in the ocean views. We also had dinner at the on-site restaurant, which offered stunning sea-facing seating—worth every penny. Parking was easy too: spots near the garage were first-come, first-serve, and if full, there’s plenty of street parking nearby. Overall, our stay was fantastic—we loved everything about it and would absolutely book again.

The only downside was that the elevator broke on our check-in day, and it took a full day to fix—so we had to climb the stairs with our luggage, which was tough, especially with heavy bags. We ended up just grabbing a change of clothes and heading up, but it was still a hassle. Still, I have to say, the way they handled the situation—though slow—was transparent and persistent. It’s not perfect, but the location, cleanliness, and comfort make up for it. Definitely a solid choice if you're visiting San Diego, and I’d stay here again.

That said, I do need to mention something that concerned me during check-in: the front desk staff asked for my credit card, wrote down all the information by hand, and even removed the CVV protection sticker on the back of the card. It felt really risky and made me uneasy about potential fraud or misuse. While everything turned out fine, I’d strongly recommend the team reconsider this practice for guest safety and peace of mind.
