If you're looking for a quiet, peaceful stay just a short drive from the city center, this hotel is perfect. Nestled in the serene neighborhood of Newlands, it's ideally located near Southern Sun, offering easy access to both urban attractions and a relaxed vibe. The area feels like a hidden gem—peaceful, safe, and full of local charm. The rooms are spacious, clean, and well-designed with modern amenities, and the bathrooms are especially impressive—large, stylish, and stocked with high-quality toiletries. It’s clear the staff take pride in guest comfort. Whether you're here for business or leisure, the location strikes the ideal balance between convenience and tranquility. A standout choice for anyone wanting a stress-free, enjoyable stay in Cape Town.

We stayed at Newlands Cottages for the second time this April 2018, hoping to relive the great experience we had on our first visit. Unfortunately, this trip turned out to be a major disappointment. My husband suffered a broken right ankle after missing the last two steps of the staircase. The design is extremely unsafe—there’s no way to turn on the lights at the bottom before descending, meaning guests must go down in complete darkness. To make matters worse, the handrail ends two steps too early, leaving no physical cue to know when you’ve actually finished the stairs. We reported the issue immediately, but the owner showed zero concern and didn’t even check in to see if we needed help. When I asked for assistance with arranging a wheelchair for my husband at the airport, her response was dismissive and unfriendly. There are no basic safety measures in place, and the risk of injury is real. This experience was truly awful. We cannot recommend this property and will not stay here again.

Our group's stay at Savoy Lodge was easily the best hotel experience we've had in South Africa. The property is small but perfectly charming—clean, comfortable, and safe, with spacious rooms that made us feel right at home. The staff were genuinely warm and welcoming, always going the extra mile. High-speed Wi-Fi worked flawlessly throughout our stay, and breakfast was a highlight—freshly prepared to order with excellent quality and great variety. Located in a peaceful neighborhood, it’s still super convenient for exploring all corners of Cape Town. Whether you're here for business or leisure, this place delivers on every level. A true gem.

I stayed here for two months during a work assignment in Cape Town, and I can’t recommend Green Elephant Backpackers enough. The location in Observatory is unbeatable—perfect for students, hospital staff, or tourists exploring the city. The outdoor courtyard is a fantastic spot to relax with drinks and food while watching sports, and the strong Wi-Fi works both inside and out, so I could easily work under the sun by the pool or in the shared office space. The staff are genuinely welcoming and always ready to help—offering great travel tips, local recommendations, and even inviting me to several braais hosted by the owners. Cleaning staff were friendly and respectful, taking excellent care of my belongings. I stayed in a private apartment, which was ideal for long-term guests: comfortable beds, ample space for work or relaxation, and a kitchenette for cooking my own meals. Parking was no issue either—plenty of street parking and secure space behind a fence. From start to finish, the experience exceeded expectations. The warmth of the team, the vibe of the place, and the convenience of the location make this a top choice. If I ever return to Cape Town, this will be my first stop.

A peaceful and quiet retreat in Cape Town, Selton Guest House offers a serene atmosphere perfect for unwinding. While we didn’t get a chance to swim due to the location being a bit further from the beach, the overall stay was excellent. The property is well-maintained, clean, and very welcoming. It’s also conveniently located for exploring the city—easy access to public transit and nearby attractions. Definitely a great choice if you’re looking for a calm, comfortable base while still being close to everything.

The stay was decent but far from impressive. The room had noticeable electronic noise, and the blackout curtains didn’t do their job—making it hard to sleep during daytime hours. The bedding quality was subpar, and there weren’t enough pillows for comfort. Check-in was unnecessarily complicated and required too much back-and-forth, which added stress to an already long travel day. The staff were curt and seemed inflexible when addressing concerns. With so many great accommodation options in Cape Town, I’d recommend exploring other places first—there are definitely better choices out there.

This place was the worst accommodation I've ever experienced. The rooms were nothing like the photos online—tiny and poorly designed, with beds that looked like they came straight out of a school dorm. The showers were especially disappointing, feeling more like prison facilities than anything meant for comfort. The overall vibe wasn't suitable for a relaxing getaway, and the lack of storage space made packing a real hassle. Even though it was cheap, I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone under any circumstances. It’s not worth the money or the stress.

Annex Lodge & Spa is a charming little gem tucked away in Cape Town, offering a warm and welcoming atmosphere that feels more like staying with friends than a hotel. The staff are genuinely kind and attentive—like a family looking after you. Every need was thoughtfully met, from the clean, cozy rooms to the thoughtful touches throughout the property. The location is excellent: just a short metro ride into the city center, surrounded by great dining options and local vibes. It’s rare to find such a peaceful retreat with such high-quality service and comfort. This stay exceeded all expectations—I’ll definitely be back and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Cape Town.

Staying at Karibu Guesthouse was a bit disappointing overall. The biggest downside? No parking available. Since Cape Town's city center is already tight on space and traffic can be hectic, not having a place to park your car made the trip stressful—especially if you're driving in from outside the area. While the location is convenient with lots of restaurants and attractions nearby, it's definitely a drawback for self-drive travelers. The room itself was basic, clean but nothing special, and the staff weren't particularly warm or helpful. For the price, I didn't feel we got much value in return. Unless you're staying without a car and don’t mind limited amenities, I wouldn’t recommend this place. It’s just not worth it for the experience.

Staying at Lighthouse Farm Backpackers Lodge was an absolute delight. The setting is incredibly peaceful and serene—surrounded by greenery, with a calm atmosphere that instantly puts you at ease. The staff are warm, welcoming, and always ready to help, making the experience feel personal and genuine. The property is well-maintained and secure, which gave me peace of mind throughout my stay. Even though it’s just a short walk from local attractions, the quiet rural vibe makes it feel like a hidden retreat. I especially loved the morning light filtering through the trees and the gentle sounds of nature. It's not just a place to sleep—it feels like a true escape. Highly recommended for anyone seeking tranquility, authenticity, and a little bit of soulful connection with nature.

Jenny and Johan made us feel right at home the moment we arrived in Cape Town. They arranged a reliable driver to pick us up from the airport, which was such a thoughtful touch. The guest house is nestled in a peaceful, tree-lined suburb, just minutes away from the University, Table Mountain hiking trails, and the beautiful Botanical Gardens—perfect for exploring nature and local culture. The rooms were spotless, well-furnished, and incredibly comfortable, with a breakfast that truly stood out—fresh, delicious, and thoughtfully prepared. Whenever I had a question, Jenny was always happy to help, making us feel safe and welcomed throughout our stay. There are plenty of great restaurants, cozy cafes, and shops within walking distance, and the V&A Waterfront is just a short ride away. We even met other guests during our visit, and everyone shared a warm, friendly vibe. This is an exceptional value-for-money guest house, and I can’t wait to come back. Highly recommended!

This stunning villa is perfectly located in Cape Town—just a short walk from everything we wanted to explore. The host was incredibly welcoming and made us feel right at home. Every room is beautifully designed with thoughtful touches, blending style and comfort seamlessly. It’s clear the attention to detail is top-notch. A truly memorable stay that exceeded all expectations.
