Especially grateful to the manager, Wilmo, who personally remembered our breakfast preferences—my husband doesn’t like eggs cooked the usual way, and Wilmo made sure they were prepared just right. That kind of thoughtful service makes all the difference. You can tell everyone here genuinely wants you to have a great stay. It’s not just about comfort—it’s about feeling welcomed and valued. Easy access to the city by public transit, excellent value, and unforgettable hospitality. Definitely coming back.

The location is fantastic—just a short walk to the beach and within easy reach of public transit, making it simple to explore Cape Town’s vibrant neighborhoods. Breakfast was an absolute highlight: chef’s special omelettes, hearty oats, fresh fruit, and delicious croissants, all perfect to enjoy in the garden or on the veranda with a morning breeze. Yves and Valérie were incredibly welcoming and always ready to answer our questions—plus their local tips were genuinely helpful. From start to finish, the entire team made us feel at home. Breakfast was decent overall, though the Eggs Benedict could’ve been better—more flavorful and properly cooked. One major downside was the constant staff turnover, which made it hard to build rapport with any consistent point of contact. It felt like every time I needed help, I had to start from scratch. Despite this, the ambiance, location, and overall comfort make this a great choice for travelers seeking a unique and authentic stay in Cape Town. Would definitely recommend for those looking for character and charm.

One thing to note: the hotel doesn’t provide toothbrushes, toothpaste, or disposable slippers—pack your own essentials. Breakfast has improved since last year! While still not quite catering to every taste (especially for those craving Chinese flavors), there’s now more variety than before, with fresh local options. Overall, the breathtaking coastal setting makes this place unforgettable. It’s definitely a top choice if you’re looking for a peaceful retreat with nature at your doorstep. I’d absolutely recommend it—and I’ll be back.

I stayed here for two months during a work assignment in Cape Town, and I can’t recommend Green Elephant Backpackers enough. The location in Observatory is unbeatable—perfect for students, hospital staff, or tourists exploring the city. The outdoor courtyard is a fantastic spot to relax with drinks and food while watching sports, and the strong Wi-Fi works both inside and out, so I could easily work under the sun by the pool or in the shared office space. The staff are genuinely welcoming and always ready to help—offering great travel tips, local recommendations, and even inviting me to several braais hosted by the owners. Cleaning staff were friendly and respectful, taking excellent care of my belongings. I stayed in a private apartment, which was ideal for long-term guests: comfortable beds, ample space for work or relaxation, and a kitchenette for cooking my own meals. Parking was no issue either—plenty of street parking and secure space behind a fence. From start to finish, the experience exceeded expectations. The warmth of the team, the vibe of the place, and the convenience of the location make this a top choice. If I ever return to Cape Town, this will be my first stop.
