My stay at this hostel was extremely disappointing. I lost my money while staying there, which raised serious safety concerns. To make matters worse, the room I was given was completely different from the one I booked—definitely not what was advertised. The street where the property is located is also very unsafe, especially at night. It’s dark and filled with homeless individuals who constantly approach guests shouting for money, demanding 'give me 50, 20 reais'—it felt intimidating and uncomfortable throughout the night. Overall, the experience was far from what I expected. The location, safety, and room accuracy were all major issues. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

This hotel doesn’t actually exist—there’s nothing but construction barriers blocking the entire property. I booked through the platform, only to find out it’s completely closed and abandoned. It’s really misleading that this listing is still active. I’d strongly recommend travelers and locals alike to leave feedback to warn others—don’t get caught like I did. The lack of updates and transparency is disappointing, especially when you’re relying on accurate info for your trip. This place should be taken down from the site.

I originally booked a standard room, but due to an issue with the air conditioning, the staff kindly upgraded me to a larger suite with two TVs, a comfortable sofa, and a dining table—way more spacious and enjoyable than expected. The team was attentive and efficient in handling the change without any hassle. Overall, the service, comfort, and value for money were outstanding. I’d definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Salvador—great experience from start to finish.
Hotel Pousada Papaya Verde
The hotel is exactly as advertised online—no surprises, just honest value. We stayed for five days and found the place simple but well-equipped with all the essentials. The location is a real highlight: quiet street, close to restaurants, markets, Barra Beach, and Farol da Barra—the heart of Salvador. The hotel offers airport transfers, which made our arrival smooth. Breakfast was solid for the price: fresh juices made from local fruits, eggs cooked to order (including sugar-free options), and at least one homemade cake per day—delicious and thoughtful. I stayed in the 'Uva' room, which had a fan, air conditioning, TV, mini-fridge, private bathroom, and an open closet—comfortable and functional. There's also a pleasant rooftop terrace on the second floor, perfect for relaxing with a drink or enjoying sunset views. The front garden adds charm and privacy to the rooms. No bugs during our stay, and housekeeping was consistent with towel changes and room cleaning. One minor downside: slight humidity in the rooms, though they're constantly repainting to combat it. Staff can be a bit slow and occasionally confused, but it never disrupted our experience. Overall cleanliness could be improved slightly. Still, we highly recommend this place and definitely plan to return.

Location-wise, it’s perfect for tourists: all major attractions are within walking distance, making sightseeing effortless and enjoyable. One thing to note for guests with mobility concerns: request a ground-floor or street-level room in advance, as there’s no elevator and several flights of stairs lead up to the rooms. That said, every other aspect of the stay was exceptional. Huge thanks to the team at Pousada Bahia Morena and to everyone in Salvador for creating such a memorable experience—we’ll be back!
