The service was excellent, and the room was spotless and well-organized—really made for a comfortable stay. That said, the bathroom and shower area are quite compact, and privacy is limited, which might be an issue for some travelers. Still, considering the great value and prime location near the beach, it’s a solid choice for a relaxing getaway. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, and we’d definitely consider staying here again.

My stay at McAllisters on 8th in Durban was generally positive. The hotel is conveniently located, just a short walk from the city center, and easily accessible by local transit. The room was spotless—cleanliness was definitely a highlight, with no signs of dirt or grime anywhere. However, I did notice a leaky showerhead that needed attention, and the main mattress had started to sag in the middle, suggesting it’s time for a replacement. The sleeper sofa mattress was particularly uncomfortable and felt quite grimy—definitely in need of a thorough cleaning. That said, the pool area was well-maintained and pleasant to use. Staff were friendly and professional—especially the housekeeping and security teams who made a good impression. The front desk, however, seemed understaffed at times, leading to longer wait times when checking in or requesting assistance. Overall, despite a few minor drawbacks, the hotel offers great value and a clean, welcoming atmosphere. I’d recommend it for travelers looking for a comfortable base in Durban.

Our host was incredibly kind and helpful throughout our visit—offering a ride to the beach when we needed it made all the difference. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped, with a cozy vibe that made us feel right at home. From start to finish, the experience was seamless and welcoming. If you're visiting Durban, this is definitely a top choice for an authentic, friendly, and memorable stay.

The Benjamin ApartHotel is well located and offers good value for money, especially if you're looking to explore Durban on foot. The neighborhood is vibrant and close to local attractions. However, during our stay, we noticed black mold in the shower and stains on the sheets—definitely not what we expected from a place that claims to be clean and well-maintained. We had to visit reception three separate times just to request bath towels, which was frustrating. Also, if you're staying here, definitely ask for a room facing away from Florida Road—music from the nearby club played loud into the night, making it nearly impossible to sleep. While the location and overall price point are strong, the lack of attention to cleanliness and noise control really impacted our experience. Would recommend it only if you can get a quieter room and don’t mind dealing with some maintenance issues.

Britannia Hotel
This visit was truly disappointing. I’ve been coming to this hotel for years and always enjoyed the excellent food and service, but this recent experience was a complete letdown. The bar staff were arrogant and completely dismissive, taking ages to serve even simple drinks with no courtesy. Management seemed indifferent—no apology, no effort to resolve issues. It felt like the place had gone downhill fast. I can’t imagine returning or recommending it to anyone. This is not the Britannia Hotel I once knew. A real shame.
