Getting to the beach requires a 20-minute tram ride, but there is a paid beach nearby in the historic area, though it’s set on rocky hillsides, so not ideal for lounging. Just outside the clock tower, there’s a currency exchange with great rates—very convenient. Breakfast was a real treat: four types of local cheese, two kinds of olives, warm pastries, fresh fruit, scrambled eggs or omelets, and deliciously seasoned grilled vegetables.
