Stayed here for 10 days and couldn’t be happier! The apartment-style rooms are incredibly convenient—fully equipped kitchen, spacious layout, and a design I really love. I ended up staying in most of the time because it felt so comfortable and self-sufficient. Cleanliness was generally good—rooms were tidy—but I noticed the housekeeping staff seemed stretched thin, almost like only one person was handling all the rooms, leading to some waiting time. Service was excellent though—always responsive. When I accidentally burned my hand, they quickly brought over burn ointment. Even when I ordered a large delivery, the friendly, slightly chubby porter helped carry everything up without hesitation. Overall, this place offers great value and a homey vibe. After staying two nights in Haikou Bay, a friend recommended we switch to Dadonghai for New Year’s Eve. She escorted us straight to our room after check-in and even left fresh fruit and a mini bar—such thoughtful touches! The hotel is literally steps from the beach, making it incredibly convenient, though being in the city center means rooms aren’t huge. That said, the location more than makes up for it. On New Year’s Eve, the ground floor was packed with live music and dancing—super lively! But if you’re traveling with kids, I’d suggest avoiding sea-view rooms since it can get noisy. Rooms facing the opposite side are much quieter. Jasmine stayed on top of things throughout our stay—she mentioned she’d contact the manager to speak with nearby beach vendors if the noise became an issue, which showed how genuinely attentive she was. Breakfast was outstanding, especially the Luoma Hainan rice noodles—everyone in our group agreed it was delicious. We made a beeline for that spot every morning. On arrival day, there was a free sugar cane candy event in the lobby, and Jasmine even sent us photos taken by the in-house photographer. One highlight we absolutely couldn’t miss was the hotel’s “Papai Box” photo experience. We booked in advance, and the photographer at the 9th-floor infinity pool was fantastic. He didn’t make us pose stiffly—he guided the kids naturally, capturing genuine moments and emotions. As someone who hates formal photos, this was a game-changer. My kids looked relaxed and happy, not forced at all. I highly recommend booking this service upon arrival. Once scheduled, the photographer contacts you directly with details and reminders. My original request for a sea-view room was upgraded—likely due to my Marriott Bonvoy Platinum status—and I appreciated the seamless communication throughout my stay. No need to call; everything was handled instantly through WeChat, making it incredibly convenient. While the hotel isn’t brand new, it maintains the high standards expected from a JW Marriott property. The pool is spacious and beautifully designed, with complimentary refreshments available during daytime lounging. Breakfast was outstanding—offering a wide variety of dishes and staying open until 11 AM. I highly recommend trying the Hòu’ān rice noodles—they were delicious and authentic. As a resort-style getaway, the views and overall experience truly shine. It’s hard to put into words just how relaxing and immersive it felt, but trust me, pictures don’t do it justice. I’d definitely return with my family in the near future—this place is perfect for a memorable vacation.

There was a private pool (though we never got around to using it), and a cozy separate area perfect for dining or relaxing—great for keeping smells out of the main bedroom. The outdoor hot tub in the courtyard was a real highlight, and the hairdryer was a high-end Remington—solid choice, though a Dyson would’ve been the cherry on top given the price point. What really stood out was the nightly turndown service; it felt personal and thoughtful, clearly reflecting the brand’s commitment to luxury hospitality. Breakfast at Mingyue Restaurant was solid, but lunch didn’t quite match the standards I’ve come to expect from places like Mandarin Oriental or Langham’s fine-dining spots in Shanghai. The fitness center felt a bit dated—equipment was basic—but honestly, most guests aren’t here to work out. Outdoor jogging paths are excellent, though. And then there’s the private beach—this was the main reason I booked. The sand is pristine, the sea is crystal clear, and there’s a dedicated shaded pavilion where you can just lie back and enjoy the view. Perfection. And the housekeeping staff, Auntie Li, went above and beyond by bringing a baby-sized towel when we headed to the pool—such a thoughtful touch!
