The location is unbeatable: stepping out the window, you’re greeted by the vibrant energy of Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street, with its dazzling lights and bustling atmosphere. We visited during New Year’s Day, and the festive vibe added extra magic to the experience. This hotel offers excellent value and convenience in one of Shanghai’s most iconic areas. Walking out of the metro station and turning the corner brings you right to the door—super convenient. The hotel is just steps away from Xujiahui Cathedral and Xujiahui Library, with luxury shopping hubs like Hongkong Plaza and Meiluo City nearby. If you're heading to Shanghai Stadium or Sports Arena for a concert, it's only one stop on the metro—or even easier, a short walk or bike ride away. This A.T.HOUSE property has that modern art vibe I love. The second-floor afternoon tea lounge and late-night dining spot are both stylish and inviting. The pastries are delicious, and the chicken soup wontons as well as the pork-filled dumplings are seriously satisfying. I was originally booked into a room type that wasn’t available yet, but the team kindly upgraded me to a Premium Suite—huge upgrade in space, view, and design. Everything felt thoughtfully curated. I ordered fresh fruit platters after my concert, and they arrived at my door in no time. The bedding was incredibly comfortable, and the service throughout was top-notch. Even at check-out, they handed me a lovely souvenir—a large record-shaped biscuit box that’s both cute and tasty. If there’s another concert in town, this will be my go-to hotel again.

The moment I stepped into the grand lobby with its soaring ceiling and dazzling crystal chandelier, I knew this was going to be special. The property sits on nearly 60,000 square meters of private garden, making it feel like a hidden European estate right in the heart of bustling Shanghai. From the very first greeting, the service was exceptional—Esther from front desk went above and beyond: upgraded our room, offered a two-hour late check-out without hesitation, and even shared her WeChat for easy communication. That kind of personal touch is rare. Breakfast was an absolute highlight—huge variety, beautifully presented. From freshly steamed dim sum and handmade noodles to a wide selection of breads, oatmeal, fresh fruit, yogurt, and even ice cream, every detail was thoughtfully curated. But what truly stole the show was the garden. Lush green lawns, mature trees casting dappled sunlight, historic buildings nestled among foliage—perfect for quiet strolls or Instagram-worthy shots. Every corner feels like a scene from a film. The pool is clean and refreshingly salty—almost like swimming in the sea! Plus, there are two hot tubs nearby, perfect for unwinding. The changing rooms are spacious, with full amenities including a sauna, steam room, and even a lounge area with TV where you can just lie back and relax. This might be the most comfortable five-star experience I’ve ever had. Security staff were friendly and attentive throughout, adding to that welcoming, home-away-from-home feeling. You can easily walk to People's Square, Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street, The Bund, Jing'an Temple, Wukang Road, Song Qingling Residence, Sun Yat-sen’s Former Home, Tianzi Fang, and even the Shanghai Natural History Museum or Cai Yuanpei’s Former Residence—all within a pleasant walking distance. Along the way, you’ll pass charming old shikumen homes, cozy cafes, boutique shops, and historic landmarks, making every stroll feel like a little adventure through Shanghai’s soul. The hotel’s lush garden on the south side is a peaceful retreat—perfect for unwinding in the middle of the bustling city. While some facilities show their age, everything is well-maintained and blends beautifully with Shanghai’s classic charm. Service is exceptional—attentive, thoughtful, and clearly influenced by Japanese hospitality standards. Even the hallway has that subtle, calming Japanese aesthetic. Breakfast is a highlight too, offering authentic Japanese touches like natto and miso soup, alongside a wide variety of other options. It’s rare to find such a well-balanced mix of location, atmosphere, service, and comfort. This place truly delivers on every level—highly recommended for anyone looking to experience the heart of Shanghai the right way.
