Later, when I realized I’d left behind some clothes, the hotel not only washed them but sent them back via courier—truly exceptional service. I finally made it to Chengdu for an overnight stay—something I’d wanted to do ever since my previous visits in 2005 and 2018, when I only passed through without stopping. This time, during my extended trip from October 2nd to 13th, I was determined to spend at least one night here. My main goal? To visit the tomb of Guan Yu (Guan Yunchang), famously mentioned in the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, located supposedly in eastern Chengdu. After arriving at Chengdu South Railway Station, I took a taxi straight there—but unfortunately, the site was closed due to major construction work. Still, I managed to take some photos from outside before heading to my hotel. The Atour Hotel at Chengdu East Railway Station turned out to be a delightful surprise. Located right near the train station, it’s incredibly convenient for getting around the city—just a short subway ride into downtown. The hotel itself is spotless, modern, and part of a fresh concept with thoughtful touches like a mini-fridge in the room. Staff were warm, welcoming, and genuinely attentive. Dinner featured a rich, comforting soup that stood out, and breakfast was excellent—plenty of choices, high quality. What truly added charm was the little tea house next door; I spent a relaxed evening sipping tea and chatting with locals, exchanging stories and laughs. Even the puzzle game by the elevator added a fun, unexpected moment while waiting. It’s rare to find a hotel that combines comfort, service, and personality so well. The location is unbeatable: right in the heart of the city, close to Dongjiao Memory for cultural vibes and just steps away from Longhu Binjiang Tianjie shopping area. There are so many amazing dining options around that I didn’t even need to go far for meals. Despite being in a busy area, the windows effectively block outside noise, and the air conditioning worked flawlessly all night long—great sleep quality. I stayed for three nights and would definitely book again on my next trip to Chengdu. For the price and location, this place offers outstanding value. Highly recommended!
