This hotel exceeded my expectations! Located just a 20-minute subway ride from Manhattan, it’s incredibly convenient for exploring the city. The hotel is incredibly convenient—just a short walk from major attractions and subway access right outside. The bed was one of the most comfortable I've ever slept on, making for a restful night's sleep. The staff went above and beyond with their friendly and helpful attitude—always smiling, ready to assist, and genuinely welcoming. Location, comfort, and service all hit the mark. This place truly delivers on every front, and I’ll definitely be returning next time I’m in New York.
Best Western Plus City Line Hotel
The hotel is conveniently located near the subway, making commuting easy and hassle-free. However, the front desk staff had a very unfriendly attitude—cold and uninviting, which immediately set a negative tone upon arrival. The room was clean, but quite noisy, especially with street sounds from below seeping through the walls. The beds were also extremely small in both length and width, making it uncomfortable for taller guests to sleep properly. Breakfast was decent, but the dining area was severely cramped with too few seats. During peak hours, we had to wait for a table, and there weren’t enough staff to manage the flow efficiently. Overall, while the location is a plus, the lack of comfort, poor service, and limited space make this a forgettable stay. It’s not worth recommending unless you're just passing through.

Staying at The Gallery House was an absolute delight from start to finish. The apartment is beautifully designed with a unique artistic flair—African masks and sculptures are thoughtfully placed throughout, giving the space a truly one-of-a-kind vibe. We were six people, and despite that, there was plenty of room and comfort. The large main bathroom plus a convenient smaller service bathroom made daily life so much easier—something rare in New York! Our host was incredibly welcoming and attentive, always checking in to make sure we had everything we needed. Best of all, it’s less than 200 meters from the subway station, putting every major attraction just a short ride away. Whether you’re exploring Manhattan or just relaxing in style, this place offers the perfect balance of charm, convenience, and comfort. I’d stay here again in a heartbeat—highly recommend for anyone looking for an authentic, memorable NYC experience.

There are plenty of small shops nearby, so grabbing snacks, drinks, or essentials is super convenient. I enjoyed walking to Columbia University—about a 20-minute stroll through residential streets, which felt safe during daylight hours. That said, I did notice the neighborhood’s safety level is average, so I’d recommend being mindful when walking around late at night. All in all, it's a great choice if you're looking to immerse yourself in a real Harlem vibe without sacrificing comfort or convenience. The value for money is strong, and the hotel delivers on atmosphere and practicality.
Sleep Inn Long Island City - Manhattan View
I booked this property through Choice Hotels and received confirmation along with a 'we're looking forward to your stay' email just a week before arrival. When we arrived, we discovered it was actually a women's shelter, leaving us with no place to stay despite having already paid in advance. It was extremely stressful showing up in New York with no accommodations available—most hotels were fully booked—and all our plans had fallen apart. This experience was incredibly disappointing and frustrating. Please avoid this location at all costs.

Right outside, there are plenty of great restaurants and scenic walking paths along the river with stunning views of the Manhattan skyline. It’s quiet, safe, and feels like a peaceful retreat without being far from the action. Highly recommend this place—it’s a fantastic choice for both business and leisure travelers.
