For those seeking luxury, the Shangri-La Nanjing offers a rooftop infinity pool overlooking the city skyline, with direct access to the nearby shopping complex and metro station. Both properties prioritize accessibility and authenticity, making them top choices for discerning travelers.

Near Sipai Lou, join the Confucius Temple Immersive Reading Session, hosted by local scholars who analyze poems like "Temple of Southern Dynasties" while guiding guests through ancient bookbinding techniques. You’ll create your own seal as a keepsake. Another standout is the Qinhuai River Night Painting Workshop, held every evening at 6 PM near Wuyi Lane, where professional artists teach watercolor painting using the soft glow of traditional lanterns. Completed artworks can be exchanged for limited-edition Jiangnan paper-cut souvenirs. Additionally, weekly Saturday events feature a Ming Dynasty Imperial Exam Simulation, where participants dress in scholar robes and take mock exams, immersing themselves in ancient academic traditions. These activities blend education, storytelling, and hands-on creativity, offering authentic insights into Nanjing’s heritage.

Sipai Lou is centrally located with Line 1 and Line 3 metro stations (San Shan Jie Station) within an 8-minute walk, connecting directly to Xuanwu Lake, Zhongshan Mausoleum, and Presidential Palace. Multiple bus lines (e.g., No. 1, No. 30) pass nearby, and dedicated shared e-bike lanes link to Old Men Dong Historic District and Yuhuatai Martyrs' Cemetery. During peak seasons, the hotel provides free shuttle services with real-time tracking, running twice daily with 20-minute rides. Use the Nanjing Culture & Tourism App to integrate transit schedules, ticket HopeGoo, and live crowd data—optimizing your itinerary with precision and efficiency.

Try the Confucius Temple Children’s Confucian Workshop, held every Sunday at 10 AM, featuring Hanfu dressing, calligraphy lessons, and traditional archery games, culminating in a "Little Scholar" certificate. For indoor fun, visit the Nanjing Museum Kids’ Discovery Zone, offering interactive exhibits like the "Six Dynasties Time Travel VR Game," where kids role-play as historical figures. All activities include safety monitoring, multilingual guides, and child-safe materials, ensuring a safe, engaging experience for all ages.

Visit the ancient brick wall behind Wuyi Lane, where morning sunlight casts dramatic shadows on weathered tiles—perfect for documentary-style photography before 9 AM. Another gem is the hidden stream bridge near Confucius Temple's eastern side, where reflections of thatched roofs and red lanterns create dreamy compositions. For night shots, Baihe Bridge on the Qinhuai River offers a stunning vista of thousands of lanterns illuminating the skyline, with the Sipai Lou tower as a backdrop. Bring a tripod and wide-angle lens, and use the Nanjing Light Map App for real-time exposure tips and crowd predictions. These spots offer quiet, authentic scenes away from tourist crowds.

Try Shenji Old City Cold Noodles in a backstreet alley—crafted with bone broth base and handmade rice flour, topped with pickled radish and scallion oil, praised as "the best cold noodles in Jinling." Another hidden gem is Wangjia Baozi’s Salted Duck Sandwich, where tender salted duck slices are layered between crispy French bread and brushed with osmanthus jam, creating a sweet-savory fusion loved by locals. Also visit Meihua Cake Handmade Studio at Old Men Dong corner, offering limited-edition fermented lotus root or osmanthus red bean pastries made fresh daily. These spots aren’t listed on mainstream platforms—use the Nanjing Foodie Map App with the "Hidden Gems" filter to find them. Note: Some stalls accept only cash; arrive before 10 AM on weekends to avoid queues and enjoy authentic flavors.

Staying at Orange Hotel Nanjing Xinjiekou Jinling Zhonghuan was an absolute delight. Atour Hotel Nanjing Presidential Palace

We stayed in Nanjing for five nights, and after two less-than-satisfying days elsewhere, we switched to this hotel for the last three—and it was a perfect upgrade. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, the room was spotlessly clean, and all amenities were modern and well-maintained. One small but thoughtful touch: there’s a display on the TV showing how many washing machines are available at any time, so you don’t waste time walking down only to find them all in use. That little detail made laundry day stress-free. The location is fantastic—right next to Liu Chang Xing for great local food, and just a short walk from key attractions like the Presidential Palace, Six Dynasties Museum, Piliu Temple, and the Comfort Station Exhibition Hall. We didn’t get a chance to visit the Memorial Hall of the Victims of the Nanjing Massacre this time, but I’m already planning a return trip—definitely coming back here. Oh, and while booking through the platform, it mentioned complimentary late-night porridge. We didn’t ask for it, so we missed out—but if you’re staying here, don’t forget to request it! It’s a nice surprise worth taking advantage of.

Guoxin Hotel

Staying at Guoxin Hotel in Nanjing was an absolute delight. Located just steps away from deji Plaza, with the metro station conveniently underground right next to it, getting around to major attractions like Daxinggong, Confucius Temple, and the Presidential Palace was incredibly easy. The hotel has been recently renovated—everything feels fresh, clean, and comfortable. The room featured a smart toilet and a heated towel rail, which added a nice touch of modern convenience. I booked through a platform, and upon arrival, the front desk staff had already turned on the heating because of the sudden cold snap. They even noticed we came from the south and deliberately gave us a south-facing room with morning sunlight—such thoughtful attention to detail. There was a welcome drink in the mini-fridge, and since we were visiting Nanjing for tourism, they provided a helpful guide with tips on reaching key sights. Late at night, when our bottled water ran out, I called the front desk and within minutes, a robot delivered a new one right to our door—super efficient! Even more touching: when the staff spotted my birthday date on my ID, they surprised me with a small gift. From the front desk to housekeeping, everyone was warm, friendly, and genuinely attentive. Across the street, there are plenty of dining options—our breakfast was at Lao Hun Dun, where we enjoyed authentic Nanjing wontons and crispy little pancakes that were delicious. This stay exceeded expectations. I’d definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family visiting Nanjing—it’s not just convenient, it’s full of heart and excellent service.

The location is incredibly convenient; just a short walk to the metro station, making it easy to explore the city. There are plenty of convenience stores and restaurants nearby, so finding food or essentials is effortless. While the room isn’t huge, it’s well-designed with a clean, bright layout. The bedding was soft and comfortable, and I slept like a baby—no waking up in the middle of the night. The bathroom features a smart dry-wet separation, no unpleasant odors, and excellent water pressure with consistent hot water supply. Front desk staff were friendly, efficient, and even took time to recommend local attractions—great for first-time visitors. Free Wi-Fi was fast and reliable, perfect for work or streaming. The self-service laundry area is spotless and very practical for longer stays. Overall, the value for money is outstanding—no hidden fees, no surprises, just thoughtful touches throughout.
