Staying at this resort felt like a true getaway. The private beach access is a game-changer—just step outside and you're right on the sand with stunning ocean views. The amenities are impressive: multiple pools (indoor and outdoor), tennis courts, and a dedicated kids’ play area that kept my children entertained all day. Despite being a luxury hotel, the price feels very reasonable—excellent value for money. The only minor downside? The sound of waves can be a bit loud if you're sensitive to noise, so I’d recommend requesting a room farther from the beach side or on a higher floor. Overall, an outstanding experience—comfortable, well-maintained, and perfect for families or couples looking for relaxation with great convenience.

Everything was perfect at Janeiro Hotel! From check-in to checkout, every detail was spot-on. The location is fantastic—just a short walk or quick subway ride away from major attractions, and there are plenty of great cafes and local shops nearby. Staying at Ipanema Inn was a great experience overall, especially given its prime location just across the street from Ipanema Beach—walking to the sand is effortless. The free beach towels and chairs are a nice touch, making beach days even more convenient. The on-site restaurant delivers solid food quality with a welcoming vibe. While the room is compact, it’s clean and well-maintained. That said, the street noise can be intense, especially with ongoing construction nearby—something to consider if you’re sensitive to sound. The air conditioning drips water, and the shower setup isn’t the most user-friendly. The bed was also quite firm, which might not suit everyone. However, the highlight of our stay was the rooftop spa at their sister property in Arpoador. We had an incredible massage there—relaxing, professional, and worth every minute. Despite a few minor drawbacks, we enjoyed our three-night stay and would definitely return for the location and the exceptional spa experience.

Breakfast was included in my booking and offered a delicious taste of local Brazilian flavors—especially the cheese bread, which was fresh and flavorful. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. For the location, comfort, service, and value, this hotel truly earns every bit of its excellent rating. Highly recommended for travelers looking for a reliable, authentic Rio experience.

The breakfast servers and housekeeping team were equally impressive, making every interaction a pleasure. Breakfast itself was delicious and well-rounded, with fresh, high-quality options. The room was incredibly comfortable, and the cleanliness was spotless—truly impeccable. The whole experience felt luxurious without being over-the-top. I’d highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Rio—it’s a gem in a great location, close to everything yet peaceful. Definitely a place I’ll return to.

Gavea Tropical Boutique Hotel
Our stay at Gavea Tropical Boutique Hotel was a major letdown, especially considering we booked it for our first-year anniversary. The promised romantic touches—rose petals scattered on the bed and in the room—were completely missing upon arrival. When we asked the front desk staff, they said they’d place them only after we left for dinner. I asked, 'What if we don’t go out?' and got the reply, 'We’ll still put them.' We spent two hours away enjoying the jacuzzi, but returned to find nothing. The surprise we were promised turned into an empty promise. The complimentary wine offered in the package was just sitting in the fridge—no presentation, no style. When we asked about it, the staff responded with, 'You can pick any of the two!' (Seriously?) Then came the detox juice: advertised as a full pitcher, but at 11 PM we had to message via WhatsApp asking where it was. They admitted they forgot it, then brought two tiny cups—no sugar, nearly undrinkable. We left it there. The view was another disappointment: the brochure promised views of Christ statue and Lagoa, but all we saw was trees. After complaining multiple times, we were moved to a different room. Bathroom water was warm at night, but next morning it was freezing—hot water had run out. The pool water was cloudy and unusable. Breakfast was terrible: milk was gone, cheese wasn’t available, only ham and one odd-shaped bread. No salted bread. Just a few drops of juice in the cooler. Cups and mugs had to be requested, no cutlery. A couple nearby ordered eggs, and the kitchen staff said they were out. Nescau had barely a spoonful left in the jar, and the only dessert was a small orange cake with zero options. We were told an employee had gone to buy cheese, bread, and condiments—but never returned. We waited over an hour. Overall, this experience fell far short of expectations. The service was inconsistent, details were ignored, and the promises made during booking were not kept. It’s hard to recommend this hotel, especially for special occasions.

I returned to Sofitel Rio de Janeiro Ipanema for a two-week stay in December and stayed in an oceanfront king room. This property continues to impress across every aspect—just as I remembered from past visits, and even better this time around. The hotel is impeccably maintained, with elegant interiors and a warm, inviting atmosphere. Staff are genuinely welcoming, always going the extra mile with smiles and thoughtful service. The breakfast buffet offers classic Brazilian flavors with a wide variety of options, though it feels a bit repetitive day after day. A rotating international section—maybe some Asian-inspired dishes—would add welcome variety. The pool area is fantastic: perfect for relaxing during the day, and the evening live entertainment is consistently high-quality and entertaining. I’m especially impressed by the fitness center—it’s one of the best in all of Rio, well-equipped and spacious. Under General Manager Netto Moreira’s leadership, the hotel runs like a well-oiled machine. Every detail reflects care and attention. It’s clear this team takes pride in delivering excellence. For travelers seeking comfort, style, and top-tier hospitality in Ipanema, this is a standout choice.

Unfortunately, my experience was quite negative due to the lack of signage and lighting in the backyard, making the area extremely unsafe for elderly guests and children. I didn’t stay overnight—I only booked a day-use option through the platform for my birthday celebration and that of a close friend. As shown in photo 20, there’s a gap beside the staircase leading down to the yard, which becomes completely invisible at night because there’s no lighting in the area. While descending the stairs, I tripped over the gap and hit my head on a stone, resulting in six stitches above my eyebrow. To clarify—no alcohol was consumed during this incident. This could have easily turned into a much more serious accident. I reported the issue to the couple managing the booking, but they showed no intention to address or fix the hazard. Aside from that, there’s nothing else to comment on since I didn’t actually stay overnight. My only warning to future guests: this property is not recommended for families with young children or older adults due to the significant safety risks.
