Staying at Philip Hotel@Balestier was a great experience overall, especially given its prime location right in the heart of Balestier Road. The neighborhood is packed with amazing local eats—Hainanese chicken rice, frog leg porridge, and laksa (meat bone soup) are just a few steps away. I stayed for two nights and was pleasantly surprised by how clean the room was—only found two little cockroaches, which honestly isn’t terrible for this kind of budget-friendly hotel. However, the biggest surprise came when we discovered there was no hot water in the evening—laughed so hard I almost cried! Still, the location is unbeatable, the staff were friendly, and the value for money is excellent. If you're looking for a no-frills, authentic Singapore stay close to food and transport, this place is definitely worth considering.
