The atmosphere at Shiralee Hostel is absolutely fantastic! From the moment you walk in, you can feel the welcoming vibe and friendly energy among guests. While not completely quiet, the overall experience is fantastic! The location is incredibly convenient—just a short walk to the city center and surrounded by great dining options. The hostel itself is clean, cozy, and has a unique, welcoming vibe. The beds are comfortable, and the room design stands out in a good way. With such a great value for the price, it’s definitely one of the top backpacker hostels I’ve stayed at. Highly recommend it to fellow travelers looking for a solid base in Perth.
Billabong Backpackers Resort
The location of Billabong Backpackers Resort is fantastic—just a 20-minute downhill walk from East Perth Station, which offers direct access to the airport. It’s also super convenient with a Woolies supermarket and a BWS liquor store right nearby. Every morning, they provide fresh bread for toast or PB&J, plus cereal and milk—perfect for a quick breakfast without leaving the hostel. The private room was spacious, well-equipped with a kettle, mugs, and complimentary tea and coffee supplies. There’s a $10 refundable deposit for dining sets, which is fair considering the quality. One small downside: Wi-Fi is only available in common areas, so no internet in the room. But the staff more than make up for it—they’re friendly, helpful, and gave us great recommendations. We followed their advice to book a ferry to Rottnest Island to see the quokkas, and they even arranged pickup and drop-off, making the whole experience seamless. The kitchen is huge and well-stocked, so preparing your own meals is easy and enjoyable. Overall, this place offers excellent value, a welcoming vibe, and a great base for exploring Perth.

Staying at Ozi Inn Backpackers in Perth was an absolute highlight of our trip. Though it's housed in an older building, the place is immaculately clean and well-maintained. What really stood out was the monthly free BBQs—perfect for meeting fellow travelers and soaking up the local vibe. It’s great to see that many of the backpackers working here are also guests, creating a friendly, community-like atmosphere. The management is clearly committed to continuous improvements—every room is being freshly painted, new curtains and cupboards are being installed, and the place feels like it’s evolving with every visit. Our new manager was incredibly welcoming and helpful, making us feel right at home. Overall, this was more than just a place to sleep—it was a memorable experience full of great people, good energy, and genuine hospitality. We’d absolutely stay here again without hesitation.

It’s perfect for both short trips and longer stays, especially if you’re looking to meet fellow travelers in a relaxed setting. Plus, being just a short walk from public transport makes exploring Perth effortless. I’d definitely come back and recommend it to anyone seeking a genuine, homely experience.
Beatty Lodge
We reached out to Beatty Lodge for a four-day stay and left our contact number as suggested, since the staff mentioned they were busy with guests and would call us back. Unfortunately, we never received a single reply despite sending five messages. Even a brief call letting us know there were no available rooms would have been appreciated. We were originally planning to stay for two weeks, but due to the lack of communication, we had to find alternative accommodation at the last minute. This experience was extremely frustrating and has completely deterred us from booking here again. Poor follow-up and unprofessional service make it hard to recommend.
Myozexp Palmerston Lodge
I stayed at MyOzExp Palmerston Lodge and had a fantastic experience overall. The room was cleaned daily, the bathroom was spotless, and having a fridge in the room was a real plus. The kitchen is spacious and comes fully equipped with everything you'd need for cooking—perfect for longer stays or self-catering. Location-wise, it's ideal—just a short walk from Northbridge, with plenty of restaurants, cafes, and shops nearby. The only downside was the Wi-Fi signal, which wasn't very strong in some areas. Still, this minor issue didn’t take away from the great value and comfort. I’d definitely recommend this place to travelers looking for a quiet, well-kept stay with easy access to the city center.

I’d definitely stay here again, especially if you’re looking to enjoy Perth’s coastal charm without the hassle of long commutes.

He even offered to lend me a charging cable—a small touch, but very thoughtful. There were complimentary bottled waters in the room, which was a nice surprise. The bedroom didn’t have air conditioning, but the living area had strong cooling, so it wasn’t an issue. Just a heads-up: there’s no mobile key access—guests need to bring a local bank card for check-in. A refundable deposit of AUD 300 is required, which will be returned within five business days after checkout. Location is great, clean, well-maintained, and the value for money is excellent. Definitely a place I’d recommend and return to.
