Anantara Chiang Mai Resort

Anantara Chiang Mai Resort is a true classic — the kind of place that feels timeless and effortlessly luxurious. A friend once mentioned that a local hotel in China was inspired by this one, and while that property is good too, staying here made me realize just how much more special the original is. Kerry Hill’s signature design really shines through — it’s natural, serene, and deeply relaxing. I spent hours at breakfast by the river, enjoying every bite while soaking in the peaceful atmosphere. And yes, I actually bumped into Lei Jiaxin and his family — talk about a surprise! The riverfront loungers are pure bliss; I napped there for the entire afternoon. The highlight? I arrived on Mid-Autumn Festival. After a long day, I slipped into the spacious bathtub, lit candles, and just stared out at the moonlight. It felt like a moment suspended in time. This isn’t just a stay — it’s a memory in the making. Highly recommended.

Aruntara Riverside Boutique Hotel

Staying at Aruntara Riverside Boutique Hotel was a delightful surprise—like a hidden gem with the charm of a well-known luxury brand, but at a fraction of the price. Just a 15-20 minute walk from both the Anantara property and the vibrant Chiang Mai Night Market, it’s perfectly positioned for exploring the city without sacrificing peace. The weather in December made evening strolls along the riverbanks incredibly pleasant. Though small in size, the hotel offers a lovely riverside restaurant, a quiet pool area, and thoughtfully designed rooms with warm wooden finishes that give a timeless, elegant feel. The staff were genuinely friendly and attentive, making every interaction welcoming. What stood out most was the peaceful atmosphere—perfect for unwinding after a busy day. Breakfast was simple but satisfying, with enough variety to start the day right. And don’t miss the little riverside café next door—ideal for sipping coffee and just… being. Movenpick Suriwongse Hotel Chiang Mai

Staying at Movenpick Suriwongse Hotel Chiang Mai was a real highlight of my trip. The location is unbeatable—right in the heart of the city, just a short walk from popular spots like 3-Thai Noodles, Squid Boat Noodle, and Flo Coffee. I loved how convenient everything was: a 7-Eleven and scooter rental shops were literally just 30 meters away, making it easy to explore on my own terms. Tower Gate (Talat Phua) is only a 10-minute stroll, perfect for catching the evening vibe. While the surrounding area is more upscale and quiet compared to bustling local markets, the nearby night market still offers a mix of international flavors—though not deeply rooted in traditional Thai street food. Prices are a bit higher, and it feels more like a Western-friendly food scene than a local favorite. That said, the hotel itself delivers a high level of comfort. The room was spacious, clean, and well-maintained, though the air conditioner did make some noise when running—nothing too disruptive, but worth noting. No view from the window is a small downside, but overall, the excellent location, cozy ambiance, and great service made up for it. Definitely recommend for travelers who value convenience and a peaceful stay in central Chiang Mai.

Staying in room 1201 was a great experience overall. The closet space is a bit limited, so we ended up keeping most of our clothes in the suitcase—but that wasn’t an issue for us.
