Staying at Novotel Wien Hauptbahnhof was an absolute highlight of my trip to Vienna. The location couldn’t be better—just a 15-minute train ride from the airport (around €5.50), and right outside the station, you’ll spot the hotel near a bustling exit lined with food stalls. One of them is a Chinese restaurant that served delicious meals at great value—around €15 per person—and we ended up eating there twice. The hotel itself feels modern and well-maintained. Our room was spacious enough for two adults, and even with a child, the sofa could likely convert into a bed (though we didn’t test it). The bed felt larger than the 1.3m listed online—definitely comfortable for two, and honestly, much better than the Novotel I stayed at in Edinburgh last year, especially considering the price difference. Vienna’s overall cost of living is noticeably lower than in the UK. The bathroom features a smart wet/dry separation, and the vanity surface is generous—plenty of room for both of us to lay out our toiletries. Breakfast was fantastic: a wide variety of fresh fruits, pastries, eggs, yogurt, and coffee. My husband stuck mainly to fruit and yogurt each morning, while I enjoyed croissants, eggs, and a strong espresso. Service was attentive—though there’s no phone in the room, help was always just a floor away at the front desk. There’s a kettle provided, but only two bottles of water were given on arrival, one of which had carbonation—fortunately, tap water is safe to drink. No slippers included, but they’re easy to request at reception, and I actually asked for two extra pairs before checking out since I needed them for my flight. The only downside? I forgot to pack a hairdryer—European hotel ones are often outdated, weak, and take forever to dry hair. That said, this minor oversight didn’t ruin the experience. Overall, a top-tier stay with excellent value, convenience, and comfort. I’d absolutely recommend it—and return again.

Public transport access is excellent: right outside the hotel, there’s a bus stop with frequent service, and it’s just a short walk across the street to the 74A bus line heading toward the historic center. The subway is also very convenient nearby. However, if you're coming from the train station, be aware that the transfer involves taking a local train rather than a metro—these trains run on a timed schedule, unlike the seamless system back home. Plan ahead to avoid missing your connection. We didn’t spot any obvious taxi stands around, so consider using other transit options or ride-sharing apps. Overall, despite minor quirks, the location, space, and ease of getting around make this a solid choice for travelers seeking value and atmosphere.

The location is convenient for getting around Vienna, and the apartment is well situated near public transit. However, during our stay, we encountered a few issues that affected our experience. There was a noticeable infestation of small ants in the kitchen—whenever we started using the space, they would quickly appear, which was quite unsettling. Additionally, nighttime was disrupted by a continuous dragging sound coming from a locked technical room nearby, along with occasional noises from adjacent utility areas. While the price was reasonable and the layout functional, the lack of quietness and hygiene concerns make it hard to recommend. If you're looking for a budget-friendly option and can overlook these details, it might still work—but for a peaceful stay, it's better to look elsewhere.

The location is fantastic—most of Vienna’s top attractions are within a 30-minute ride on the bus or subway, and with a weekly transit pass, exploring the city became so easy and stress-free. The room was much larger than expected for a hotel of this category, and the small kitchenette was perfect for preparing quick meals—great for saving money and enjoying some comfort food. I especially loved the Bluetooth speaker and the adorable bedside lighting that added a cozy vibe to the space. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the free coffee available in the lobby was a nice touch. There are three supermarkets nearby, plus a bakery right next door—perfect for grabbing fresh bread and morning treats. Everything you need for a comfortable, convenient stay is just steps away.
