We absolutely loved our experience at The Columns Hotel, especially the garden bar nestled beneath the ancient live oaks along St. Charles Avenue’s trolley line—there’s something magical about that setting. The historic charm is undeniable, but what truly made it unforgettable was the warm hospitality of Jay, the host, and Shanda, our server. From the moment we arrived, they made us feel like the only guests in the place—even as the crowd grew fast on such a beautiful day. Shanda was incredible with her drink suggestions, guiding us perfectly through the early happy hour (2–5 p.m.) and crafting classic New Orleans cocktails with genuine flair. Jay, too, shared stories that connected us over our shared Mississippi roots, turning a simple visit into a real conversation between friends. We’re a mother-son duo traveling together—Boomers who still love the vibe of Marigny near Frenchmen Street—and we had to balance a hipster vegan’s needs while chasing the best bars in the Quarter and nearby areas. After three days of non-stop bar hopping, this spot stood out head and shoulders above the rest. Even places we’ve loved before—the courtyard at The Peychaud Hotel, Bar Tonique, Pirate’s Alley above the Old Absinthe House, the overrated Carousel Bar, or the solid Vintage and Envie for brunch—just can’t match the atmosphere and authenticity of The Columns. The prices are better than where we stayed, and the trolley line makes getting downtown effortless. Plus, the Garden District itself is full of hidden gems to explore. Honestly, we’re already thinking about staying here again. The beauty of the space, the quality of service, and the perfect cocktail scene—it all comes together to make every drink taste even better.
India House Hostel
Absolutely perfect for budget travelers! We stayed in the Green House and booked the 'Ocean View' room—funny thing is, it actually overlooks the pool (haha), but that didn’t take away from the experience at all. The bed was super comfortable, the air conditioning worked flawlessly, and the room was quiet throughout the night—no noise disturbances whatsoever. One of the best parts? Never had to wait for the shared bathroom or shower down the hall. The shower itself was decent, though the sink could use a bit more water pressure. Location is safe, and parking on the street was hassle-free. Overall, this place exceeded my expectations. I’d definitely stay here again if I’m back in New Orleans.

We came for the Daydream event, and it was absolutely unforgettable—live music, cocktail stations scattered around the pool, and an open-air entertainment space behind the fence that really brought the energy. The atmosphere was electric, and the crowd was fun and relaxed. I’m already planning my next trip—this time, I’ll book a room and stay all day and night. If you love laid-back luxury with a touch of cool, this is your spot.
