My stay at The Edward Hotel from February 19th to 20th, 2024 was truly pleasant. Upon arrival, a friendly porter helped carry my luggage from the car parked across the street—such a thoughtful touch. Check-in staff were welcoming and efficient, making the process smooth and stress-free. I opted for the hotel’s underground parking (at an additional fee), which came with good security advice from both the porter and front desk team—really appreciated those practical tips. While the hotel is located centrally along Durban’s beachfront, it's on the southern side, just one block away from the main city street. That corner does attract a mix of people, so if you're walking around, keep valuables like phones, wallets, or purses out of sight—tuck them under your clothes. Also, avoid wearing flashy jewelry or expensive watches. The room itself was spacious, clean, and featured a small balcony perfect for relaxing. I was initially concerned about being on the first floor and possibly disturbed by street noise, but I was pleasantly surprised—the room was well soundproofed, and there was no disruption during the night. I slept well, though this might differ on weekends. The air conditioning worked quietly and effectively. The bathroom had minimal amenities for a hotel marketed as upscale—only a tiny water bottle provided, and no chocolates upon arrival, unlike some nearby options where guests get treats and larger bottles. Since I brought my own 1.5L bottles, I couldn’t confirm if the small one gets replaced daily. Hot water from the shower was instant, which was a big plus. Wi-Fi was slightly unstable, but given South Africa’s ongoing load-shedding issues, that’s understandable. Food in the dining area was excellent—both lunch and dinner were delicious. Breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of choices, satisfying even the pickiest eaters. Overall, despite minor shortcomings in toiletries and connectivity, the hotel delivered strong value, great service, and a comfortable stay. Highly recommend for travelers seeking a quiet, convenient base near the beach.

Staying at Point Waterfront Apartments was an absolute delight! The place is spotlessly clean and the staff couldn’t have been more welcoming. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm and inviting. Located just a short walk from the city center and close to public transit, getting around town was a breeze. There are plenty of restaurants, cafes, and convenience stores nearby—everything you need is within easy reach. Our room was compact but thoughtfully designed with all the essentials: comfy bed, modern amenities, and a stunning view of the ocean. Waking up to the sound of waves and watching the sunrise through the window was pure bliss. It’s rare to find such a great balance between comfort, location, and value. I’d definitely book again and highly recommend this gem to anyone visiting Durban.

My stay at Coastlands Durban Self Catering Holiday Apartments was extremely disappointing. Early in the morning around 6:45 AM, I realized my phone had been stolen from the room. It turned out a stranger had entered without permission—apparently because staff had told us not to lock the door due to a faulty key card issue. This lack of security is unacceptable. Later that day at around 1 PM, I encountered the manager again and he acted completely unaware, even though he clearly saw me earlier. His response was dismissive and unhelpful. To make matters worse, I also found cockroaches inside the room—this is a serious hygiene concern. The combination of theft, poor management, and unsanitary conditions made this experience truly awful. I won’t be returning, and I strongly urge the hotel to address these critical issues immediately before more guests suffer the same frustration.

Absolutely loved my stay at Bayside Hotel 116 West Street! The location is perfect—right by the waterfront with stunning ocean views from the room. I was able to catch a quick train into downtown with no hassle, making it ideal for exploring Durban. The room was clean, well-maintained, and the bed was incredibly comfortable—woke up feeling refreshed every morning. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout my visit, even offering local tips on where to eat nearby. There’s a great mix of dining options within walking distance, including some authentic South African spots. Everything about this hotel exceeded my expectations. I’ll definitely be back.

Staying at Bayside Hotel 100 was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The staff were incredibly welcoming and always ready to help with any request—friendly, professional, and genuinely attentive. The room was spotless and well-maintained, with a clean, fresh feel that made the stay so comfortable. I especially appreciated the quiet ambiance and the cozy bed, which helped me sleep like a baby after long days exploring Durban. Located just steps away from West Street, it's super convenient for getting around town by public transport or walking. Great value for money, and perfect for both business travelers and families. Would absolutely book again and highly recommend this gem of a hotel.

Our first night was definitely disappointing—the room was small and lacked proper airflow due to its location, making it uncomfortably hot. However, we were truly blessed with an incredible staff member named Mbali, who stepped in and kindly arranged a better room with a balcony. This made all the difference! We were able to stay for the remainder of our booking and even celebrated my husband’s birthday on Sunday—exactly why we booked this trip in the first place. Her kindness turned a stressful start into a memorable experience. The hotel’s overall charm, combined with such exceptional service, makes it worth recommending. I’m already considering returning.

This place absolutely exceeded my expectations! Located just a short walk from the city center, it's incredibly convenient for exploring Durban. The apartment-style layout offers plenty of space and feels really cozy, with a fully equipped kitchen that made cooking meals a breeze. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay. What stood out most was the incredible value—clean, well-maintained, and perfectly located. I’ve stayed in many hotels across South Africa, but this one truly deserves a perfect 10. I’ll definitely be coming back.

We recently stayed at Luxe on Ridge Boutique Hotel for a friend's wedding in Durban, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive—especially Shanice, who went above and beyond to help us multiple times. I accidentally left behind my AirPods after check-out, and she took the time to locate them and return them to me—truly exceptional service. The only minor suggestion would be to expand the breakfast menu with more vegetarian options, as there weren’t always enough choices available. Otherwise, the hotel’s ambiance, attention to detail, and overall comfort made it a standout stay. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Durban.

I was truly amazed by the level of service at this hotel—exceeding all my expectations. From the moment I arrived, every staff member went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable and memorable. The location is fantastic: just a short walk from the city center, with easy access to public transit, restaurants, and local attractions. The room was spotless, well-appointed, and incredibly cozy—perfect for both business trips and family getaways. What stood out most was how personalized and warm the experience felt, despite being a boutique property. If you're visiting Durban, don't hesitate—this is one of the best stays I've had in years. Highly recommended!

The Silver Sands Self Catering was a pleasant stay overall—clean rooms and friendly, helpful staff made the experience enjoyable. Our air conditioning wasn’t working properly, but the team responded quickly and resolved it right away, which was impressive. The only minor issue was some noise early in the morning, likely from nearby traffic or guests, but it didn’t ruin the trip. The location is convenient for exploring Durban, and the self-catering setup gave us flexibility and comfort. Great value for money, and I’d definitely consider returning.

Every single detail at this hotel is absolutely perfect — from the moment I walked in, everything felt luxurious and thoughtfully designed. The staff went above and beyond with their warm hospitality and attention to detail. My room was spotless, beautifully decorated, and incredibly comfortable, with a bed that made falling asleep effortless. The air conditioning worked flawlessly, keeping the room just right no matter the weather outside. Location-wise, it’s ideally placed — close to public transit and surrounded by great dining options. It’s rare to find such a high-quality stay at this price point. I’d book here again in a heartbeat and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Durban.

The Hilton Durban has been back in operation for a few months now after a three-year closure due to government policies during the pandemic. Despite the long break, the hotel remains in excellent condition with a soft, elegant ambiance that feels timeless. While the location isn’t ideal for walking around—Durban can be risky in certain areas and the hotel isn’t directly on the beach—the service is outstanding, truly making the stay memorable. The restaurant is on the pricier side, but the quality justifies the cost without feeling overpriced. The room itself is lovely—elegant, well-designed, and comfortable, though not overly extravagant. Overall, it’s a solid choice for travelers seeking refined comfort and reliable hospitality.
