The stay at Silver Oaks Boutique Hotel was absolutely outstanding. From the moment we arrived, everything felt thoughtfully designed and welcoming. The room was clean, stylish, and incredibly comfortable—perfect for a relaxing getaway. The staff were friendly and helpful, though there were occasional moments when the front desk wasn’t immediately available, which was the only minor downside. That said, it didn’t take away from the overall excellent experience. The location is convenient, close to local attractions and transport links, making exploration easy. With its charming atmosphere and high-quality service, this hotel offers incredible value. I’d definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Durban.

My stay at Essenwood House was generally enjoyable. The location is convenient, the surroundings are peaceful, and the room was clean and well-maintained. I did experience some load shedding during my visit, which would have been less stressful if there had been a backup generator—though I appreciate the staff’s efforts to manage the situation. Despite that minor inconvenience, the hospitality and overall atmosphere made up for it. The property offers great value for money, especially for travelers looking for a quiet retreat in Durban. I’d definitely consider returning and hope they can install a backup power system in the future.
Mesami Hotel
The Mesami Hotel is a modern property with spacious rooms and a decent English breakfast. However, the quality of service is inconsistent—sometimes friendly and professional, other times abrupt and unfriendly, which can be off-putting. The neighborhood is quiet, residential, and very secure, but it’s strongly advised not to walk around outside due to nearby sensitive areas. Getting to downtown or even dining just a few blocks away requires taking a taxi. For better convenience and access to amenities, staying along Marine Parade would be a smarter choice.

Britannia Hotel
This visit was truly disappointing. I’ve been coming to this hotel for years and always enjoyed the excellent food and service, but this recent experience was a complete letdown. The bar staff were arrogant and completely dismissive, taking ages to serve even simple drinks with no courtesy. Management seemed indifferent—no apology, no effort to resolve issues. It felt like the place had gone downhill fast. I can’t imagine returning or recommending it to anyone. This is not the Britannia Hotel I once knew. A real shame.
