We debated a lot with the family when booking—my main draw was the pool, but they preferred the new Hyatt for being closer to the pier and Gaya Street. In the end, we went with Marriott, and I’m so glad we did! The online reviews mentioned issues with hot water and constant airplane noise, but neither of those were problems here. Hot water was consistently strong every day, and while I could hear planes occasionally before bedtime (I’m a light sleeper), I actually slept well throughout our four-night stay—maybe there weren’t many flights late at night? Getting around wasn’t an issue either; taxis to both piers were quick and affordable, and dining near Dataran Square was just a short ride away, even within the first fare. The only thing that could use improvement is breakfast—it was exactly the same each morning for four days. A little variety would go a long way. But honestly, the highlight was the pool. At about 25 meters long, it’s perfect for laps. I love swimming year-round, so I’d swim after returning from evening boat trips or early in the morning during mangrove tours. After each swim, just floating on my back and watching planes fly overhead? Pure relaxation. It’s one of those moments you don’t want to leave.

My room was spacious and comfortable, with a deep bathtub that made soaking after a long day absolutely blissful. There’s even a large wardrobe—great for storing all my luggage. The staff are attentive and helpful, offering travel tips and currency exchange right at the lobby. Cleanliness is outstanding—spotless from top to bottom. Best of all? The view. Open the window, and you're greeted by the ocean and stunning sunsets every evening. Plus, it's just a 10-minute walk to Central Market and Gaya Street Night Market—perfect for grabbing local snacks, souvenirs, or just soaking in the lively street vibe. This place truly combines comfort, convenience, and charm in one.

If you're a light sleeper or sensitive to noise, this could be a real issue. That said, the room itself was clean, tidy, and well-maintained with all essentials provided. It’s definitely a good option if you’re okay with the aircraft noise and prioritize proximity to the city center and entertainment spots. Just be mindful when booking—consider requesting a quieter room facing away from the runway. Overall, solid value for money if you’re not bothered by the constant flyovers.

Simple phrases like '1-10', 'bathroom', or 'how much' get the job done. Rooms are clean, well-maintained, and offer good value for money. I’d definitely stay here again on my next trip to Sabah. However, if you're on the side facing the main street, the windows aren’t fully soundproof—something to keep in mind when booking. Staff were friendly and helpful, especially during check-out; extending my stay by four hours cost only 90 MYR, which felt very reasonable. There’s a designated smoking area outside, neatly arranged and considerate of non-smokers. On-site, there's a supermarket and convenience store right downstairs, plus plenty of dining options nearby—no need to worry about finding food. The highlight? I was lucky enough to catch an absolutely stunning sunset from my window—one of those moments that made the whole trip unforgettable.

What truly stands out is the location: directly across from the Kota Kinabalu Tourism Centre, just 2 minutes walk to Sunset Square and about 7–8 minutes to Jesselton Point Pier. On my last day, we returned from the pier during a sudden downpour—no taxis available—but walking back was easy and manageable thanks to the short distance. For travelers on a budget who still want a reliable, well-located, and character-filled stay, Hotel Sixty3 is an excellent choice. It’s convenient, authentic, and delivers great value. Highly recommend!

Staying at Hotel Capital Kota Kinabalu was a great experience. The hotel is perfectly located on Jalan Gaya, making it super convenient to get around—just a short walk to the waterfront and all major attractions. Right behind the hotel are two banks for easy cash exchange, which saved me a lot of hassle. Across the street is a shopping mall, and you can easily walk to Sunrise Square for some retail therapy. There’s also an Orange convenience store nearby where you can store your luggage for free—such a helpful touch! While the hotel is a bit older, the upper-floor rooms are surprisingly quiet and peaceful, perfect for a good night's sleep. Overall, this place offers excellent value for money and a very convenient location. I’d definitely stay here again.

The room was on the smaller side, but incredibly clean and comfortable, making it easy to relax after a long day. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes nearby, so we never had trouble finding something to eat. We stayed with our child, and all three of us enjoyed a peaceful, stress-free break. Great value for money and highly recommend for travelers looking for a quiet, well-located base in Kota Kinabalu.
