Ming Garden Hotel & Residences
Staying at Ming Garden Hotel & Residences always feels like a treat. The room is spacious, spotlessly clean, and the bed is incredibly comfortable—perfect for unwinding after a busy week. The air conditioning keeps the room pleasantly cool, making it ideal for a relaxing weekend getaway. I’m already looking forward to coming back next week and hoping to book the same room again. Parking was a bit tight on Sunday, but since I was checking out that day, it wasn’t an issue. Overall, everything was excellent—from service to amenities. Highly recommend this place for anyone visiting Kota Kinabalu!
Gaya Centre Hotel
The Gaya Centre Hotel completely exceeded my expectations! The room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained—definitely not what I expected based on some of the older reviews. While the building has a bit of vintage charm and the décor feels dated, it's still in excellent condition overall. What really stands out is the location—just a 10-minute walk from Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman (Chinatown Pier), making it super convenient for exploring the area, grabbing street food, or heading out for a night on the town. The staff were friendly and helpful, adding to the great experience. If I’m ever back in Kota Kinabalu, this will be my top pick again. Highly recommended for travelers who value convenience and good value!

My stay here was absolutely fantastic! The room was spotless—so clean, it felt like a fresh start every time I walked in. Despite being located in a vibrant area, the place is surprisingly quiet—no noise from the street or neighboring units, which made for a restful night’s sleep. It's perfectly situated near the waterfront, just a short walk away for evening strolls along the bay. There are plenty of dining options and convenience stores nearby, making everything super accessible. The location is ideal for exploring Kota Kinabalu, and the value for money is outstanding. My stay at Aston Boutec Hotel Lintas Plaza in Kota Kinabalu was disappointing overall. The room was extremely small—barely enough space to unpack luggage, and the layout felt cramped and inefficient. Cleaning standards were poor; I noticed stains on the sheets and hair clogging the shower drain, which raised concerns about hygiene. The location isn’t ideal either—surrounded by quiet streets with limited dining or shopping options nearby. Getting to the city center required multiple transfers and a long commute, making it inconvenient for travelers. Communication with staff was frustrating too—responses were slow, unclear, and often repetitive. Overall, the value for money didn’t justify the experience, and I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to others.

Arrived in Kota Kinabalu late at night after an early flight, and chose this apartment hotel as a convenient overnight stop. I got a taxi right outside the airport for just MYR 30—only about 15 minutes to reach the property. Since it was so early, the security staff hadn’t arrived yet, but luckily ran into another guest heading out who helped me access the unit using the password provided by the host. The apartment itself is clean, well-equipped, and perfect for a quick layover. Everything you’d need is there—kitchenette, bedding, Wi-Fi—no complaints at all. The location is fantastic: right below Imago Shopping Mall, so dining and shopping are just steps away. And in under 5 minutes on foot, you’re at the beach—beautiful views, gentle sea breeze, ideal for relaxing after a long trip. Honestly, the value-for-money here is outstanding. I’d definitely come back if I ever visit Kota Kinabalu again.

I can't say enough good things about my stay at Riverson Soho KK - Home Suite. From the moment I arrived, everything felt seamless and thoughtfully planned. The management sent a clear message beforehand with instructions to download and save the self-check-in PDF—reading it in advance made the process smooth and stress-free. Though there was no staff waiting to greet us personally, the setup was so intuitive that we never felt overlooked. My room was spotless, spacious, and beautifully designed with modern touches throughout. The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring a deep, restful sleep—truly felt like home. The on-site facilities were excellent: my car was safely parked in the reserved underground lot, and I enjoyed using the pool and gym, both well-maintained and inviting.
