The service was excellent, and the room was spotless and well-organized—really made for a comfortable stay. That said, the bathroom and shower area are quite compact, and privacy is limited, which might be an issue for some travelers. Still, considering the great value and prime location near the beach, it’s a solid choice for a relaxing getaway. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, and we’d definitely consider staying here again.

The Hilton Durban has been back in operation for a few months now after a three-year closure due to government policies during the pandemic. Despite the long break, the hotel remains in excellent condition with a soft, elegant ambiance that feels timeless. While the location isn’t ideal for walking around—Durban can be risky in certain areas and the hotel isn’t directly on the beach—the service is outstanding, truly making the stay memorable. The restaurant is on the pricier side, but the quality justifies the cost without feeling overpriced. The room itself is lovely—elegant, well-designed, and comfortable, though not overly extravagant. Overall, it’s a solid choice for travelers seeking refined comfort and reliable hospitality.

Staying at First Group The Palace All-Suite was an absolutely outstanding experience—definitely deserving of a perfect 10/10. The location is fantastic: just a short walk to the city center and within easy reach of public transit, with plenty of dining options nearby, including lively night markets only a 10–15 minute stroll away. The suite-style rooms are spacious and beautifully designed, offering excellent privacy and comfort. I slept like a baby on the plush bed, and the air conditioning worked perfectly—ideal for South Africa’s warm climate. The bathroom is well thought out with a clean, dry-wet separation and high-quality fixtures. Staff went above and beyond—greeted me warmly, helped with luggage, offered personalized recommendations for local attractions, and even brought a welcome drink. Breakfast was a highlight: a diverse buffet with both Western and local dishes, fresh ingredients, and freshly ground coffee. Everything felt premium without feeling overpriced. Whether you're traveling for business or family vacation, this hotel delivers exceptional value and service. I’ll definitely be back.

My stay at The Edward Hotel from February 19th to 20th, 2024 was truly pleasant. Upon arrival, a friendly porter helped carry my luggage from the car parked across the street—such a thoughtful touch. Check-in staff were welcoming and efficient, making the process smooth and stress-free. I opted for the hotel’s underground parking (at an additional fee), which came with good security advice from both the porter and front desk team—really appreciated those practical tips. While the hotel is located centrally along Durban’s beachfront, it's on the southern side, just one block away from the main city street. That corner does attract a mix of people, so if you're walking around, keep valuables like phones, wallets, or purses out of sight—tuck them under your clothes. Also, avoid wearing flashy jewelry or expensive watches. The room itself was spacious, clean, and featured a small balcony perfect for relaxing. I was initially concerned about being on the first floor and possibly disturbed by street noise, but I was pleasantly surprised—the room was well soundproofed, and there was no disruption during the night. I slept well, though this might differ on weekends. The air conditioning worked quietly and effectively. The bathroom had minimal amenities for a hotel marketed as upscale—only a tiny water bottle provided, and no chocolates upon arrival, unlike some nearby options where guests get treats and larger bottles. Since I brought my own 1.5L bottles, I couldn’t confirm if the small one gets replaced daily. Hot water from the shower was instant, which was a big plus. Wi-Fi was slightly unstable, but given South Africa’s ongoing load-shedding issues, that’s understandable. Food in the dining area was excellent—both lunch and dinner were delicious. Breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of choices, satisfying even the pickiest eaters. Overall, despite minor shortcomings in toiletries and connectivity, the hotel delivered strong value, great service, and a comfortable stay. Highly recommend for travelers seeking a quiet, convenient base near the beach.
