Ten Bompas Hotel
I can't say enough good things about Ten Bompas Hotel. After growing skeptical of the boutique hotel label—often meaning overpromised, overpriced, and underdelivered—I was pleasantly surprised to find that Ten Bompas is the real deal. As one of South Africa’s original boutique properties, it truly lives up to its reputation. The staff throughout the property were exceptional—from front desk to housekeeping. We arrived after a long trip through Namibia with a huge load of laundry, and I was shocked to discover that laundry service was included at no extra cost. Kudos to the housekeeper who handled everything so efficiently—she absolutely earned her tip! Every team member embodies what hospitality should be: warm, thoughtful, and genuine. I especially want to highlight General Manager Sean for his outstanding leadership and personal touch. But honestly, every single person we interacted with made us feel welcome. The food was another highlight—the chicken was hands-down the best I’ve had in South Africa. And yes, the fireplace is wood-burning—a rare and delightful touch these days. If you get the chance to stay here, don’t hesitate. It’s a true gem, and worth every penny.

The only minor suggestion for improvement: the rooms don’t have European-style electrical outlets, so travelers from Europe may need a travel adapter. Also, having bottled water available in the room right away would’ve made the experience even better. Overall, the hotel offers great value, excellent service, and a welcoming atmosphere.
