Everything you need to know about Wanzi Bridge
Recommended is Yunjian Wanzi Bridge Courtyard, a boutique guesthouse nestled beside Wanzi Bridge, blending Naxi traditional architecture with modern minimalism. Its rooms feature private courtyard terraces offering serene views of the ancient town’s morning mist and evening lanterns. Located just a 5-minute walk from the core area, it’s close to Sifang Street and Mufu Palace, ideal for travelers seeking authentic cultural immersion.
Another top choice is Tingfeng Residence, a white-walled, black-tiled retreat with wooden beams and underfloor heating—perfect for winter stays. Only 100 meters from Wanzi Bridge, it allows guests to enjoy sunrise views from the bridge and evening strolls along the Jade River. Both properties offer free shuttle services, guided local tours, and wheelchair access, making them suitable for families and elderly travelers.
Wanzi Bridge lies within Lijiang Ancient Town’s pedestrian-only zone, where motor vehicles are prohibited. Visitors should take the metro or bus to "Lijiang Ancient Town Station" and transfer to electric shuttles or walk in. For those driving, nearby parking options include Dongfang Plaza Parking and Zhongyi Market Parking Tower, both about a 15-minute walk from the bridge.
Some guesthouses, like Yunjian Courtyard, provide complimentary pickup services daily from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the town entrance. Additionally, shared e-bikes are available throughout the area for short-distance travel. Due to narrow streets and potential congestion during peak hours, avoid visiting midday or holidays. Note that Wanzi Bridge is a stone arch bridge unsuitable for large vehicles; the surface becomes slippery when wet—wear non-slip shoes for safety.
Near Wanzi Bridge, explore authentic Naxi intangible heritage. Join a Dongba Calligraphy Workshop hosted at the Ancient Town Cultural Pavilion, where master Dongba priests teach you to write your name or blessings using pictographic characters, followed by a hand-crafted paper print as keepsake.
Visit Wanzi Bridge Tea House to savor Pu’er raw tea and the traditional Three-Course Tea Ceremony, reflecting Naxi hospitality. Every evening at 8:00 PM, enjoy live performances of Bai Sha Fine Music, an ancient ensemble piece with haunting melodies that echo through time.
For deeper immersion, book a Night Walk Tour led by local residents, exploring hidden alleys and sharing legends tied to Wanzi Bridge. Each participant receives a handmade paper lantern and a custom map. Most activities are free or low-cost, with reservations required via official platforms—book ahead to secure spots.
The optimal times to view Wanzi Bridge are 6:30–7:30 AM and 5:30–7:00 PM. At dawn, mist blankets the Jade River, creating a mirror-like reflection of the bridge, evoking a classical Chinese ink painting. With fewer visitors, it’s perfect for photography and quiet contemplation.
At dusk, golden sunlight bathes the bridge and rooftops, casting warm hues across the water. This is also when the town’s lanterns illuminate one by one, turning Wanzi Bridge into a radiant focal point. Bring a tripod for long-exposure shots.
Note: During summer (June–September), rainy season may make the bridge slippery—wear non-slip footwear. In winter, frost patterns on the stones add poetic charm. Avoid midday heat and holiday crowds for the most memorable experience.
Near Wanzi Bridge, savor authentic Naxi cuisine. Try Naxi Fire Pit Chicken at "Wanzi Bridge Little Restaurant," slow-cooked over an open fire pit using free-range chickens, wild mushrooms, and mountain yam. The rich broth and tender meat are deeply flavorful.
Must-try is Chicken Bean Jelly from "Bridgehead Jelly Shop," a cool, chewy dish served with chili oil, vinegar, and garlic—perfectly spicy and refreshing. Another highlight is Black Goat Rice Noodles, simmered with wild herbs and seasonal vegetables, offering a hearty, warming meal ideal for colder months.
For a cultural feast, reserve the Three-Course Tea Banquet at "Dongba Family Home." Each course—bitter, sweet, and lingering—symbolizes life’s stages, paired with homemade biscuits and dried fruits. All dishes use locally sourced ingredients, fresh and affordable, averaging ¥40–80 per person.
Yes, Wanzi Bridge offers excellent family amenities. Visit the Ancient Town Children’s Nature Education Garden just south of the bridge, featuring eco ponds, plant specimen walls, and handcraft pottery zones. Kids can engage in nature scavenger hunts using storybooks and task cards based on Naxi folklore.
The Jade River Promenade is wide, flat, and stroller-accessible, with benches and shaded rest areas. Parents can stroll along the river while children enjoy the scenic views of waterwheels and historic bridges. Weekends feature outdoor family markets selling handmade toys, ethnic clothing, and creative snacks—great for interactive fun.
Many guesthouses, such as Yunjian Courtyard, provide free kids’ activity kits with puzzles, coloring books, and Naxi-themed plush toys. Facilities include wheelchair-accessible restrooms and nursing rooms. The area is quiet, safe, and ideal for family getaways and parent-child bonding.

I was truly surprised by how great this place turned out—excellent value for money, and the experience exceeded all my expectations. The room was spacious and quiet, with top-notch amenities that made everything feel luxurious. The view from the observation deck is absolutely stunning—finally, I got to witness the breathtaking sunrise on Jade Mountain, which was a dream come true. Even the restaurant offers panoramic views of the snow-capped peaks, making every meal feel special. The staff, especially our concierge Xiao Ming, went above and beyond—warm milk in the evening and pre-arranged tickets to nearby attractions were thoughtful touches that really made a difference. This isn’t just a stay; it’s a memorable retreat, and I’ll definitely be back.

This was my third visit to Lijiang, and once again I chose Xianyunxi Yuxueshan Garden Resort courtyard — and I couldn’t be happier. The wooden stilted houses have such a unique, authentic charm that instantly transports you into a peaceful mountain retreat. The rooms are cozy, well-appointed, and incredibly relaxing — just lying in bed, listening to the breeze and looking out at the snow-capped peaks, it feels like time slows down. The garden is beautifully designed with seasonal flowers and thoughtful landscaping, making every corner feel serene and inspiring. I didn’t do much during my stay — just lounging by the courtyard, sipping tea, and soaking in the views. It’s exactly the kind of escape I needed. The whole experience was so rejuvenating that I’m already planning my next trip. If you’re looking for a quiet, natural retreat with genuine comfort and stunning scenery, this place is perfect.

Staying at this little gem was one of the most relaxing experiences I've had in a long time. The atmosphere is so peaceful and quiet—perfect for anyone looking to escape the noise of everyday life. The staff went above and beyond: they helped carry our luggage from the car to the room and even walked us back out when we checked out. That kind of personal touch really made a difference. Breakfast was a highlight—great mix of Western and local flavors, with the Lijiang-style rice noodles being absolutely outstanding. I’ve never tasted such rich, comforting broth with perfectly cooked noodles. I also loved spending an afternoon in their cozy tea house, sipping a warm cup of green tea while chatting with friends—seriously calming and rejuvenating. The room details were thoughtful too—the toothbrush was surprisingly high quality (one of the best I’ve used on a trip), and having laundry detergent right on the sink was such a convenient surprise. Hot water pressure in the shower was excellent, making every rinse feel like a spa treatment. Plus, the location is ideal—just a short drive to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and other nearby attractions. And let’s not forget the two adorable dogs that live here—they’re always happy to say hello and add even more charm to the place. If I ever return to Lijiang, this will be my first choice without hesitation.

Staying at Xiaoyangrichu was an absolute delight! From the moment I walked into the room, I could feel the warmth—literally. The air conditioning had already been turned on in advance, making the space cozy and inviting. The room itself smelled faintly of fresh linen and something calming, like a breath of mountain air. What truly stood out was the ground-floor tea lounge—perfect for brewing your own tea and just sitting quietly, soaking in the breathtaking 180-degree view of Yulong Snow Mountain. The staff were attentive without being intrusive, always ready to help but never overstepping. It’s rare to find such thoughtfulness blended with natural beauty. If you’re looking for a peaceful, authentic escape in Lijiang, this place is a must-visit. I’ll be back—this isn’t just a stay, it’s a memory in the making.

Absolutely recommend this gem of a stay! The atmosphere is peaceful and quiet, just a 2-minute walk from the north gate of Shuhe Ancient Town—perfect location. The room was spotless, with both underfloor heating and air conditioning, plus all amenities you’d want. The two-bedroom, two-bathroom layout made it ideal for families. The ground-floor room has a cozy little courtyard, while the second-floor room features a private balcony with breathtaking views of the snow-capped mountains—plus, the rooftop terrace offers even better vantage points. Breakfast was delicious and abundant, and they even serve afternoon tea and warm goji berry soup in the evening—such a thoughtful touch. Every staff member was friendly and attentive. This is hands down one of the best homestays I’ve ever experienced. Comfortable, well-located, and full of charm—definitely coming back!

I was completely blown away by this place—my trip plans changed last minute, so I ended up booking a one-night stay in Shuhe with no advance notice. When I arrived late at night, I had no idea how stunning the property would be. Honestly, the photos online don’t do justice to the real charm—the interior design, handpicked decor, and thoughtful details are all top-notch. The owner mentioned that the vintage 1930s sign out front and the Nepalese war chariot inside each cost tens of thousands of yuan—proof of the quality. The garden is lush even in winter, with flowers blooming right outside my room door, adding such warmth to the chilly weather. Breakfast was delicious and fresh, and the bathroom amenities were from premium brands—so luxurious. The only thing? The heating made the air super dry during winter. A small humidifier would’ve been perfect. But overall, this stay was absolutely exceptional. It’s not just a hotel—it feels like stepping into a quiet, beautifully curated retreat. I’d give it 100/10 and will definitely come back if I ever return to Lijiang.

Staying at PARALLOGE was an absolute highlight of our trip to Lijiang. Perched on the hillside overlooking the ancient town, the hotel offers breathtaking views from its second-floor restaurant and terrace—perfect for morning coffee with a sunrise over the rooftops. The room was spacious, comfortable, and well-equipped with both underfloor heating and air conditioning, making it cozy year-round. Breakfast was delicious and varied, enjoyed while soaking in the scenic views of the historic district. We arrived by car, and parking was conveniently located nearby. The owner personally helped carry our luggage—a thoughtful touch that made a big difference. Service was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. This isn’t just a place to sleep—it’s a memorable experience. Highly recommended for anyone looking for charm, comfort, and authenticity in Lijiang.

Staying at Zhazha Guanjing Inn was an absolute delight! The staff were incredibly warm and genuinely helpful—offering personalized recommendations for local restaurants and must-see sights, which made our trip so much more enjoyable. The room was spotless, spacious, and the luxury view from the panoramic window was breathtaking—especially at night when the ancient town lights twinkled below. What truly stood out was the complimentary laundry service and the convenient airport/station pickup, a real game-changer for travelers with heavy luggage or tight schedules. Located on a hillside overlooking Lijiang Old Town, it’s perfectly positioned: just a short walk to the famous Big Water Wheel, and only 3 minutes uphill to a main road where taxis are readily available. You get the best of both worlds—peaceful mountain serenity with easy access to all the city has to offer. This place is worth every penny. Highly recommend!

This hidden gem in Yunnan was recommended by friends, and it’s honestly the best guesthouse I’ve stayed at in mainland China—no exaggeration. From the moment I walked in, the floor-to-ceiling glass windows framed a breathtaking view of the reservoir and the legendary Rizhao Jinshan (Sunrise Golden Mountain), especially stunning at dawn when the snow-capped peaks glow gold. The minimalist yet thoughtful design creates such a calm, relaxing atmosphere—simple but with great attention to detail. Breakfast and afternoon tea were delicious, and the coffee was expertly brewed. But the real highlight? The freestanding bathtub right by the window. Soaking in hot water while watching the mountain and lake scenery unfold outside—pure bliss. The staff were warm, friendly, and genuinely attentive. This place feels like a true retreat, not just a stay. If you’re visiting Lijiang, this is an absolute must-book. Unbeatable value, unforgettable experience.

Returning to Lijiang after a decade, I chose Xinsu Snow Mountain Qingcheng Panoramic Holiday Club in Shizi Mountain—just steps from the Viewing Pavilion—and was absolutely blown away by the entire experience. The Old Town is huge, so I’d definitely recommend checking the map beforehand to plan your sightseeing route. We specifically picked this property because of its stunning views of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and its location on Shizi Mountain. After booking, we reached out to the host with questions about airport transfers and other details—he responded promptly and was incredibly helpful throughout. The guesthouse spans four floors, offering spacious rooms without feeling crowded. There’s a shared rooftop terrace on the third floor perfect for relaxing with tea or coffee, while the fourth floor features a Japanese-style design that’s effortlessly photogenic—every corner feels like a scene from a travel magazine. We stayed in two different room types—one on the third floor with a private balcony, ideal for afternoon lounging, and another on the fourth floor with tatami mats and a low tea table, perfect for sipping tea while gazing at the distant mountains. Each room offers unobstructed views of the snow-capped peaks and the glowing night skyline of the old town. The bathrooms are large, spotlessly clean, and feature unique local touches in the shower setup. The air conditioning and humidifier work perfectly—quiet, effective, and sleep-friendly. Breakfast each morning was simple but memorable: either Yunnan rice noodles or congee with a side of sweet potato. I had the plain congee with sweet potato for several days straight—it was surprisingly delicious. The host mentioned they soak the rice overnight, and what impressed me most was how they actively check in with guests about their preferences for side dishes and adjust accordingly. That kind of attention to detail speaks volumes about their genuine care. From safety and convenience to service quality and overall vibe, this place is absolutely worth returning to—maybe even more than once. I reviewed many options before choosing this one, but after experiencing it firsthand, I’m confident this was the right decision. In fact, it exceeded all my expectations. Thank you to every staff member and especially the thoughtful host—your warmth made this trip unforgettable. Wishing you continued success in creating meaningful memories for travelers from around the world.

Staying at this homestay felt like stepping into a peaceful retreat just minutes away from the heart of Lijiang Old Town. Located near Black Dragon Pool Park, the view from my window was pure serenity—lush trees and a gentle stream flowing nearby. It’s only a 15-minute walk to the famous Big Water Wheel, making it super convenient for exploring the ancient town. What really stood out was the thoughtful touches throughout the day: afternoon tea in the afternoon, cozy chats with the front desk staff over tea, and a sweet little bedtime treat each evening. The team—friendly, attentive, and always willing to help—went above and beyond when I decided to extend my stay last minute. They made the adjustment seamless. The design is modern yet warm, blending natural elements with a stylish, minimalist vibe. If you're looking for a quiet, authentic, and beautifully crafted stay in Lijiang, this place is a must-try.

Staying at this mountain villa was an absolute delight! Located halfway up Lion Mountain, it’s incredibly convenient to reach the ancient city—just a short walk or quick ride away. Every room has a huge window facing the snow-capped mountains, so waking up to sunrise on Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is effortless and breathtaking. The host was incredibly thoughtful: daily afternoon tea and fresh fruit were provided, and since we booked late and needed room changes, they even helped with luggage and rearranged our space without hesitation. When they heard we were heading to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, they generously handed us an extra oxygen bottle—truly a lifesaver at high altitude! The rooms themselves are spacious, spotlessly clean, and fully equipped with both air conditioning and underfloor heating (even in the bathroom!), making winter stays cozy and comfortable. Breakfast each morning was a highlight—homemade rice noodles and dumplings prepared by the grandmother on-site, simple but delicious and made with real care. There are also several adorable pets around, including a rescued cat with a disability who’s been given a loving home. Thoughtful photo spots were set up facing the mountain, adding charm to the experience. This place feels like a true retreat—natural, warm, and full of heart. It’s not just a stay; it’s a memory in the making. Highly recommend for anyone seeking peace, beauty, and genuine hospitality.
