Celebrating New Year's Day at Rosewood Beijing was the perfect way to start the year. With chilly weather outside, staying put in this luxurious hotel felt like a dream. Even the little touches, like my initials embroidered on the pillowcase, made the experience feel personal and special. The executive lounge exceeded expectations—both the food quality and service were outstanding, easily among the best I’ve experienced in China. And then there’s the pool: even in winter, it feels like stepping into a serene greenhouse garden. Calm, elegant, and breathtakingly beautiful—hands down, one of the most stunning pools in Beijing. A true gem.

Special thanks to Lucy, the tall and friendly staff member who gently warned me about the busy breakfast rush during peak hours. Without her tip, I’d have been overwhelmed! And the mini bar in the room? Overwhelmingly stocked—so much food and drinks I couldn’t possibly finish. Bonus points for being pet-friendly, even if my shy cat didn’t get to enjoy it. Seeing those adorable dogs at check-out brought a real smile to my face. It’s sad knowing this place will soon close, but since we can’t change that, I’m glad I came here one last time—to truly experience its quiet magic before it fades.

I only had one day in Beijing and needed a hotel with great transit access, so I chose BEI Zhaolong Hotel, JdV by Hyatt. Right outside the door are the Line 3 and Line 10 metro stations, and transferring to the Capital Airport Express is super convenient. It’s also just a short walk to Pop Mart Park, and surrounded by Sanlitun Taikoo Li—perfect for dining and shopping. Overall, the value for money is excellent. The room has a clean, minimalist design with a spacious king bed that made for a comfortable sleep. The only minor downsides were the small toilet (a bit tight for taller guests) and the showerhead, which felt a bit weak—would be great if they upgraded to a larger flow model next time. All in all, this is an ideal choice for travelers who don’t care about luxury finishes or being right on top of tourist hotspots, but really prioritize easy access to public transport.
