Atour Hotel, North Square, Kunming Railway Station
Thanks to a friend's recommendation, I stayed at Atour Hotel near Kunming Railway Station and was really impressed—especially the bedding. The pillows are so comfortable that I always ask for the foam ones instead of relying on fancy feather pillows from five-star hotels. We booked a family room with a 1.8m queen bed and a 1.2m single bed—perfect fit for my two daughters, who had plenty of space to sleep comfortably. The outdoor swing was a real highlight; even though we didn’t have much time to play, the kids were thrilled and couldn’t stop smiling. Staying here was ideal for our trip around New Year’s, as it’s just steps away from the train station. We checked out at 8:30 AM and still made our 9:00 train to Dali without rushing—though we originally thought we’d need to leave by 8:15, the extra half hour made all the difference.
