The front desk staff were friendly, patient, and always ready to help. And don’t miss the vintage rosewood trunks—they’re a standout feature with real character. Jinling Aster Hotel Suzhou

Staying at Jinling Aster Hotel Suzhou was a delightful experience. The hotel is literally across from the metro station, making it incredibly convenient to explore the city—just a short walk to get on the train. Free parking is a big plus for travelers driving in. Breakfast and lunch were both excellent, especially since the famous Cai Xiang Market is right behind the hotel, offering fresh and delicious local food. I couldn’t resist trying the Xucheng Mooncakes nearby—they’re absolutely worth it! There’s also a great local noodle shop, Huajiao Restaurant, just steps away, serving hearty, authentic dishes. The hotel itself has a rich history—it’s said to be Suzhou’s first five-star hotel, and its rooftop restaurant used to be a well-known landmark. Despite its heritage, the pricing feels very reasonable and fair. The room was clean, comfortable, and the overall vibe made me feel right at home. If you’re looking for a centrally located, affordable, and authentic stay in Suzhou, this place is an absolute gem.

Suyuan Hotel

Stayed at Suyuan Hotel during my visit to Suzhou, and I was genuinely impressed. The front desk staff were incredibly warm and welcoming—when they noticed we had a young child, they proactively offered us a larger twin room with plenty of space, which made our family stay much more comfortable. The room facilities were standard but well-maintained; the bathtub was a big hit with my little one, who spent ages splashing around. The air conditioning worked perfectly—the temperature was just right for autumn, so we didn’t need to crank it up too high. One of the highlights was the large koi pond in the courtyard, where we could buy fish food and feed the colorful fish. My child loved it and couldn’t stop smiling while watching them swim. The entire place was clean and well-kept with no lingering odors or hygiene issues. Overall, this is a great value-for-money option, especially for families. I’d definitely consider staying here again on my next trip to Suzhou.

Although the hotel was undergoing renovations to the temple and Building 8, and it was winter, I wasn’t able to fully enjoy the beautiful garden scenery of Nanyuan. Still, the overall experience was outstanding. The staff were exceptional—helping with luggage, offering electric shuttle service between buildings, and ensuring comfort throughout. Even in the evening, the fitness center and swimming pool were warm and inviting, so no worries about getting cold. Breakfast was one of the better ones in this chain: the noodle stall stood out with unique items like sesame brown sugar smoothies and a special vegetarian pan-fried dumpling. Staff were attentive—the moment my mom sat down, someone asked if she wanted soy milk, and three cups arrived right away. The duplex room was spacious, especially the second-floor bedroom, which felt very comfortable. A few facilities could use upgrading—like the showerhead pressure and the small, outdated changing rooms at the pool area. That said, the evening ambiance in the lobby was truly magical: soft melodies from pipa and guqin performances created a peaceful, almost tea-house-like atmosphere. Sitting back with a cup of tea and chatting quietly was incredibly relaxing. Huge thanks to Xiao Yueyue at reception, and all the front desk and concierge team—your warmth and professionalism made a lasting impression.

In-room service was equally impressive—the housekeeping staff member was warm and attentive, even noticing our extended stay and kindly providing extra toiletries. Rooms were immaculate, with fresh linens and towels changed daily. The Chinese restaurant served authentic Anhui cuisine—rich in flavor and true to tradition—and the Western buffet breakfast offered a wide variety of options. One small suggestion: rotating the daily menu would keep things fresher and more exciting. Waitstaff Liu Shunyi was energetic and proactive, always ready to clear plates without being asked. Overall, the attention to detail, genuine hospitality, and consistent quality make this hotel a standout choice. I’ll definitely return.
