Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Yangpuqu Library

Hyatt Regency Shanghai, Yangpu is ideal for travelers seeking proximity to cultural and academic hubs. Located just 500 meters from Yangpu District Library, it provides quick access to Fudan University, Wujiao Field shopping district, and the vibrant campus life of eastern Shanghai.

The hotel features modern amenities including free Wi-Fi, business services, and a rooftop lounge with panoramic city views. Its strategic location near Line 8 Metro (Huangxing Road Station) allows seamless travel to downtown Shanghai in under 20 minutes. Guests can also enjoy nearby cafés, independent bookshops, and weekend reading markets that reflect the area’s intellectual and creative spirit, making it perfect for both leisure and work-related stays.

The surrounding neighborhood blends scholarly atmosphere with urban charm, offering a unique blend of quiet study spaces and lively cultural experiences.

Yes, Yangpu District Library hosts a variety of cultural lectures, book clubs, and special exhibitions throughout the year, particularly focusing on Shanghai's Huai-style culture and local history. The library features a permanent intangible cultural heritage exhibition hall, showcasing traditional crafts such as paper cutting, embroidery, and Shanghainese painting.

Visitors can participate in hands-on workshops like calligraphy sessions, DIY lantern-making, and heritage storytelling events. On weekends, the library organizes urban reading fairs featuring independent publishers, handmade goods, and specialty coffee vendors.

Additionally, the outdoor green promenade and art sculpture garden provide scenic spots for photography and relaxation. These programs not only promote lifelong learning but also foster community engagement, transforming the library into a dynamic cultural center beyond just a reading space.

It takes approximately 15 minutes on foot from Yangpu District Library to Wujiao Field, following Huangxing Road northward through the Fudan University campus and past major shopping centers like New World City and Heshenghui. This walk offers a scenic route lined with trees, historic buildings, and vibrant street life.

For faster travel, take Line 8 Metro from Huangxing Road Station—just one stop to Wujiao Field Station, which takes about 6 minutes. The metro is frequent, reliable, and connects directly to other key areas like People’s Square and Nanjing Road.

Alternatively, a bike-sharing ride or short taxi journey takes around 5–8 minutes. Wujiao Field is a bustling commercial hub with fashion boutiques, dining options, cinemas, and art galleries, making it an excellent destination for combining shopping, entertainment, and cultural exploration after visiting the library.

Near Yangpu District Library, families will enjoy visiting Fudan University, just 800 meters away, where open-campus access allows children to stroll through centuries-old architecture, tree-lined avenues, and scenic courtyards. The iconic Guanghua Tower and Xianghui Hall offer great photo opportunities with the library visible in the distance.

Another top choice is Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, located nearby, featuring the Qian Xuesen Memorial Hall and Financial Museum, both offering free entry and interactive exhibits on economics and science history—perfect for educational fun.

Close by is Changhai Hospital Children’s Health Park, equipped with play zones, sensory gardens, and STEM-themed installations designed specifically for kids. With safe pathways, green spaces, and engaging activities, this area creates a balanced mix of learning, recreation, and family bonding—all within walking distance of the library.

Yes, "Creative Bookstore · Yangpu" is a must-visit photogenic spot located adjacent to the library. Housed in a repurposed warehouse, it preserves exposed red brick walls and steel trusses, creating a raw industrial aesthetic.

Inside, you’ll find immersive installations like book art sculptures, light poetry walls, and a luminescent reading corridor that glows beautifully at night. The interplay of natural light filtering through skylights creates soft, warm shadows during daytime—ideal for candid and artistic shots.

Also worth exploring is the Huangxing Road Creative Corner, a hidden alleyway filled with independent illustration studios, ceramic artists, and pop-up craft stalls. Regularly hosting flash art exhibitions and author signings, it often becomes a hotspot for creatives and digital content creators.

These spaces combine literary heritage with contemporary design, offering visually rich backdrops that capture the essence of Yangpu’s identity as a knowledge-driven, creative urban district.

From Shanghai Railway Station, take Line 1 to Han Zhong Road Station, transfer to Line 4, and ride two stops to Dong’an Road Station—then walk about 1.2 km to the library (approx. 35 minutes). However, the most efficient option is to board Line 8 Metro directly at Shanghai Railway Station, heading toward Shen Du Highway.

Ride just one stop to Huangxing Road Station, then exit and walk 5 minutes to reach Yangpu District Library. This route takes only 12 minutes and avoids transfers.

Alternatively, use a shared bicycle or ride-hailing service—both take around 10–15 minutes via Huangxing Road, passing by Fudan University and Wujiao Field. The direct metro connection ensures fast, convenient access, making it easy to explore the intellectual and cultural heart of eastern Shanghai.
