Staying at Le Meridien Kota Kinabalu was an absolute delight, especially the Executive Lounge—definitely worth upgrading to if you can. The sunset views from the lounge are breathtaking, and sipping a drink there as the sun dips below the horizon is pure magic. The room itself was spacious and well-maintained, with clean lines and a nice modern vibe. However, I did notice a slight sewer odor in the bathroom—something that could be improved with better ventilation or maintenance. The bed was on the softer side, which didn’t suit my preference for firmer support. That said, the overall experience was excellent, the staff were attentive, and the location made exploring Kota Kinabalu super convenient. A truly memorable stay with only minor tweaks needed.

The hotel is exceptionally clean and doesn’t carry any of the typical local odors that can sometimes be off-putting—definitely a big plus. I was truly impressed with the overall atmosphere and comfort. Located right next to Suria Sabah Mall, everything you’d need—from shopping to dining—is literally just steps away. The view from the window was stunning, especially during sunset when the city lights began to sparkle. It’s also super convenient for getting to the airport via public transit. This stay exceeded my expectations, and if I ever return to Kota Kinabalu, I’d definitely book here again. Highly recommend this hotel for travelers who value cleanliness, location, and a great vibe.

Staying at Horizon Hotel was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The hotel ambiance is peaceful and well-maintained, with a charming small rooftop infinity pool that’s perfect for relaxing or snapping some great photos. Its location is unbeatable—just a short walk to Kota Kinabalu’s bustling Jalan Gaya for shopping and street food, and even closer to Sunrise Mall for dining and entertainment. What really stood out? Right outside the door, there’s a Misto Ice Cream shop—perfect for grabbing a cool drink anytime. Everything is so convenient, yet the place still feels quiet and private. With top-notch service and an excellent balance of comfort and value, this hotel truly delivers on every level. I’d definitely recommend it to travelers who want a hassle-free stay in Kota Kinabalu.

The Gaya Centre Hotel completely exceeded my expectations! The room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained—definitely not what I expected based on some of the older reviews. While the building has a bit of vintage charm and the décor feels dated, it's still in excellent condition overall. What really stands out is the location—just a 10-minute walk from Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman (Chinatown Pier), making it super convenient for exploring the area, grabbing street food, or heading out for a night on the town. The staff were friendly and helpful, adding to the great experience. If I’m ever back in Kota Kinabalu, this will be my top pick again. Highly recommended for travelers who value convenience and good value!

The value for money here is outstanding! The room was much larger than the photos suggested—especially the bathroom, which felt spacious and well-designed. Right across from the hotel is a convenience store, and there are several restaurants nearby that look promising. I especially loved the retro-inspired design with exposed concrete and brick walls—it gives the place a unique, cozy atmosphere. At night, it’s incredibly peaceful and relaxing, making it feel like a quiet retreat in the middle of the city. Cleanliness, layout, and attention to detail are all top-notch. This is definitely a standout choice if you're visiting Kota Kinabalu—I’d absolutely stay here again.

Staying at Hotel Sixty3 in Kota Kinabalu was one of the highlights of my trip to Malaysia. I specifically chose this hotel because it has a unique charm and a sense of history—its architecture instantly reminded me of old European buildings I’ve seen before, which brought back memories of traveling with my wife years ago in Russia. The staff at the front desk were incredibly friendly and helpful, making check-in a pleasant experience. The interior design is thoughtfully done with eco-friendly materials and thoughtful touches throughout. Cleanliness is good overall, though there was a slight musty smell in the room—nothing major, but worth noting. What truly stands out is the location: directly across from the Kota Kinabalu Tourism Centre, just 2 minutes walk to Sunset Square and about 7–8 minutes to Jesselton Point Pier. On my last day, we returned from the pier during a sudden downpour—no taxis available—but walking back was easy and manageable thanks to the short distance. For travelers on a budget who still want a reliable, well-located, and character-filled stay, Hotel Sixty3 is an excellent choice. It’s convenient, authentic, and delivers great value. Highly recommend!

I was completely blown away by how perfect the location is—just a 10-minute walk to Pasar Philipin, the local wet market, grocery stores, and more. Everything you need is within reach without needing a ride. The amenities are well thought out, and every single staff member I interacted with went above and beyond. I arrived late at night, and the front desk agent (even though I didn’t catch her name) was incredibly warm, welcoming, and helpful—she made me feel right at home. One thing that truly touched me: I accidentally left my wallet behind. Only after reaching the airport did I realize it was missing. I called the hotel immediately, and they confirmed they had kept it safe for me. I was so relieved and emotional—I couldn’t believe how thoughtful and responsible everyone was. From housekeeping to front desk, every team member showed genuine care and professionalism. This isn’t just a place to stay—it’s a memorable experience. I already know I’ll be back. Thank you all so much for your kindness and dedication. You’ve earned a loyal guest!

Dreamtel Kota Kinabalu is an excellent choice for travelers seeking comfort and convenience. The location is ideal—close to everything yet quiet enough to enjoy a peaceful stay. I arrived with a lot of luggage, but the spacious room made it easy to move around without feeling cramped. Compared to other hotels I’ve stayed at, this one stands out in terms of cleanliness, layout, and overall atmosphere. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout my visit, making check-in smooth and welcoming. Whether you're here for business or leisure, this hotel delivers a great experience. I’d definitely choose Dreamtel again if I return to Kota Kinabalu—it’s truly a top pick for value and quality.

Staying at Hotel Capital Kota Kinabalu was a great experience. The hotel is perfectly located on Jalan Gaya, making it super convenient to get around—just a short walk to the waterfront and all major attractions. Right behind the hotel are two banks for easy cash exchange, which saved me a lot of hassle. Across the street is a shopping mall, and you can easily walk to Sunrise Square for some retail therapy. There’s also an Orange convenience store nearby where you can store your luggage for free—such a helpful touch! While the hotel is a bit older, the upper-floor rooms are surprisingly quiet and peaceful, perfect for a good night's sleep. Overall, this place offers excellent value for money and a very convenient location. I’d definitely stay here again.

My kids absolutely loved the hotel—great space for them to run around and feel safe. It’s super convenient to Center Point, making it easy to explore the area without needing a car. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The only minor downside was the parking availability, which could be tight at times, but overall, the experience was excellent. We’ll definitely be back.

The service here was absolutely outstanding—the front desk staff were incredibly kind and went above and beyond to assist with everything. From recommendations for local restaurants to helpful tips on exploring the area, they made our stay so much more enjoyable. The location is fantastic too—right in the heart of town with easy access to great food, shopping, and attractions. I’ve stayed at many hotels in Kota Kinabalu, but this one stands out for its warm hospitality and convenience. I’ll definitely be booking again next time I visit. Thank you, Hotel Gaia 95, for such a memorable experience!

Staying at Toojou Kota Kinabalu was a fantastic experience overall. The hostel is clean, spacious, and well-maintained with a generous shared lounge area perfect for relaxing after a day out. Located right on Jalan Gaya, it's incredibly convenient—just steps away from restaurants, local shops, and markets. Getting around town is easy, whether by taxi or public transport. For sunset views, a short ride to the public beach does the trick, and walking north leads you straight to the Shangri-La area—quiet, peaceful, and ideal for unwinding. If you're into nature, I highly recommend the Weston mangrove tour. I booked the Adventure package (available via Taobao), and it was absolutely worth it. The guide was knowledgeable and friendly, the food served during the trip was delicious, and the wildlife spotting—especially monkeys in the mangroves—was unforgettable. The one downside? It’s a 2.5-hour one-way journey, but honestly, the scenery and experience make every minute worthwhile. This place offers great value and a genuine local vibe—definitely coming back.
