Gaya Centre Hotel

The Gaya Centre Hotel completely exceeded my expectations! The room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained—definitely not what I expected based on some of the older reviews. While the building has a bit of vintage charm and the décor feels dated, it's still in excellent condition overall. What really stands out is the location—just a 10-minute walk from Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman (Chinatown Pier), making it super convenient for exploring the area, grabbing street food, or heading out for a night on the town. The staff were friendly and helpful, adding to the great experience. If I’m ever back in Kota Kinabalu, this will be my top pick again. Highly recommended for travelers who value convenience and good value!

CJ Residence - Opposite Public Bank Centre Point

My stay here was absolutely fantastic! The room was spotless—so clean, it felt like a fresh start every time I walked in. The bedding was comfortable, and the overall atmosphere was peaceful and welcoming. Staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, always ready to help with a smile. Despite being located in a vibrant area, the place is surprisingly quiet—no noise from the street or neighboring units, which made for a restful night’s sleep. It's perfectly situated near the waterfront, just a short walk away for evening strolls along the bay. There are plenty of dining options and convenience stores nearby, making everything super accessible. The location is ideal for exploring Kota Kinabalu, and the value for money is outstanding. I’d definitely come back and recommend this place to anyone visiting Sabah.

Hotel Five 2

This was our first stay at Hotel Five 2, and it absolutely exceeded our expectations. We arrived early at 8:00 AM, and the front desk staff were incredibly welcoming—they happily stored our luggage without any hassle. During checkout, a kind staff member even offered us complimentary coffee and tea in the lobby, which added such a warm, personal touch. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was simple but spotlessly clean, and the overall atmosphere felt cozy and well-maintained. Location-wise, it’s unbeatable—just a 5-minute walk to Centre Point, making it super easy to explore the city on foot. Whether you're here for business or leisure, this hotel delivers great value and genuine hospitality. We’d definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to fellow travelers.

Homesuite' Home at Jesselton Quay

Staying at Homesuite' Home at Jesselton Quay was an absolute delight! The location is unbeatable—just a short walk from both Gaya Street and the waterfront, perfect for hopping on island tours without any hassle. The building has a Korean restaurant, convenience stores, a laundry facility, and even a charming cat mascot who runs the front desk—such a cute touch! Getting around is super easy too; taxis are always quick to arrive, whether you're heading to the airport or exploring the city. I actually misplaced my wallet once, and the staff returned it untouched—truly heartwarming and incredibly reassuring. Jesslton quay Dream stay

The room was extremely comfortable and perfect for a family stay. The location is fantastic—just a short walk to the beach and surrounded by great local restaurants. Everything was clean, well-maintained, and spacious enough for our group. A few small upgrades would make it even better: a taller ironing board, pool-friendly slippers, and maybe a microwave in the room would be a nice touch. But honestly, I couldn’t be happier with the overall experience. The staff were prompt and friendly, always ready to help whenever we needed something. Great value for money, and I’d definitely book again. Highly recommend this place if you're visiting Kota Kinabalu!

No more worrying about food going bad if you’re out late enjoying local street food. The staff went above and beyond—friendly, helpful, and always ready to assist with recommendations or directions. The amenities are practical and well thought out, making the whole experience seamless. For the price, this place offers incredible value and a truly relaxing stay. Definitely my top pick in the area and I’ll be back.

Lavender Lodge

Staying at Lavender Lodge was an absolute delight. The room was spotless and incredibly comfortable, with a cozy atmosphere that made it feel like home right away. One of the best features? Outlets compatible with Chinese plugs—no need to carry adapters, which was a huge convenience. The building has a secure access system with keycard entry, so I felt safe throughout my stay. Located right in the heart of Jalan Gaya’s bustling city center, everything was within walking distance: the airport was just a short stroll away, and the famous night market was literally around the corner. I had the chance to try some local favorites like Dajia Lai and Youji, all easily accessible on foot. While the street food was fun and authentic, I’d caution against overindulging in durian—it’s pricier than back home and doesn’t quite match the quality I’m used to. As for seafood, the cooking style is more traditional and less seasoned compared to what I’m familiar with in China, so while it’s fresh, it might not appeal to everyone’s taste. Still, it’s worth trying once for the experience. Overall, this hotel offers unbeatable convenience, great value, and a perfect base for exploring Kota Kinabalu—highly recommend for travelers who want to be close to the action without sacrificing comfort.
