Staying at Le Meridien Kota Kinabalu was an absolute delight, especially the Executive Lounge—definitely worth upgrading to if you can. The sunset views from the lounge are breathtaking, and sipping a drink there as the sun dips below the horizon is pure magic. The room itself was spacious and well-maintained, with clean lines and a nice modern vibe. However, I did notice a slight sewer odor in the bathroom—something that could be improved with better ventilation or maintenance. The bed was on the softer side, which didn’t suit my preference for firmer support. That said, the overall experience was excellent, the staff were attentive, and the location made exploring Kota Kinabalu super convenient. A truly memorable stay with only minor tweaks needed.

On my last day, we returned from the pier during a sudden downpour—no taxis available—but walking back was easy and manageable thanks to the short distance. For travelers on a budget who still want a reliable, well-located, and character-filled stay, Hotel Sixty3 is an excellent choice. It’s convenient, authentic, and delivers great value. While the hotel is a bit older, the upper-floor rooms are surprisingly quiet and peaceful, perfect for a good night's sleep. Overall, this place offers excellent value for money and a very convenient location. I’d definitely stay here again.

The host speaks Mandarin and is easy to communicate with via WeChat—just make sure to watch the detailed check-in video they send, as it’s essential for understanding the process. Located right next to Jesselton Premium Outlets and just a short walk from Sunrise Square, everything you need—from dining to shopping—is within easy reach. The rooftop infinity pool overlooking the sea is stunning during the day, but gets crowded at night when people come in their clothes, and the water isn’t very clear. Still, it’s a great spot for a daytime swim. Best of all? No deposit required.
