My stay at this hotel completely exceeded my expectations. I booked the terrace room, and the moment I opened the curtains, I was greeted by a stunning view of golden ginkgo trees — absolutely breathtaking. The hotel has a traditional aesthetic in its interior design, but the facilities feel modern and well-maintained. I originally chose it just because it's directly across from Shanghai Conservatory of Music for convenience during exam season, but ended up loving every minute of my stay. Room 215 features a private bathroom with excellent water pressure — super comfortable. I even managed to take some artistic photos of my daughter that turned out beautifully. The location is perfect — close to public transit and quiet enough to relax. A great value and a truly memorable experience. Highly recommend!

Hotel Equatorial Shanghai

The location couldn’t be better—just a short walk from Huashan Hospital, Jing’an shopping district, and Nanjing West Road. Public transit access is super convenient, whether by metro or bus. The front desk staff, Summer and Priscina, were incredibly warm and welcoming—they even upgraded us to a business executive king room at no extra cost! The service here feels timeless, with that classic old-money elegance. Breakfast was abundant and delicious, offering a great start to the day. For business travelers, this is an ideal choice with outstanding value. Hotel Equatorial Shanghai is one of Shanghai’s original five-star hotels, dating back to the early days of reform and opening-up in the 1990s. It’s undergoing a major renovation this year, so we’re excited to see how refreshed it will look. I’ll definitely be booking again once the upgrades are complete.

The staff, especially Violet and Leo at the front desk, were incredibly warm, attentive, and went above and beyond to make our visit memorable. From check-in to check-out, their professionalism and kindness made us feel truly welcomed. The room was spotless, quiet, and comfortably furnished—perfect for a relaxing stay after a day exploring the city. The location is unbeatable: stepping out the window, you’re greeted by the vibrant energy of Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street, with its dazzling lights and bustling atmosphere. We visited during New Year’s Day, and the festive vibe added extra magic to the experience. This hotel offers excellent value and convenience in one of Shanghai’s most iconic areas. I’d absolutely choose this property again on any future trip to Shanghai.

From the moment I arrived, every interaction felt warm and authentic. Being just a short metro ride from the city center makes it even more convenient. The exterior might not scream 'new and flashy,' but inside, everything has that timeless elegance of old-money quality—the bedding was incredibly comfortable, making for a restful night's sleep. Even small details like the hairdryer, flooring, and seating had a refined, classic touch. Breakfast was simple but satisfying, and the short castle tour offered surprising insights and fun facts. I did have a slight disappointment with the terrace, but the front desk made up for it by giving me a little magnet as a thoughtful gift. Honestly, I couldn’t ask for more—this place strikes the perfect balance between heritage, comfort, and genuine hospitality. Would absolutely return.
