Staying at Amber Pure Hill Hotels & Resorts Jeju was an absolute delight. The staff were incredibly warm and welcoming, speaking English, Korean, and Mandarin fluently—making communication effortless throughout our visit. The resort is nestled on a hillside with breathtaking views, offering a peaceful retreat while still being just a 15 to 20-minute drive from downtown Jeju City. Public transport and taxis are convenient for getting around. On-site amenities include room service, a lovely restaurant, and a cozy bar—perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. The evening lighting is especially stunning, turning the entire property into a magical, serene atmosphere. One minor disappointment: the back courtyard, though featured in photos with seating, wasn’t accessible to guests despite asking directly. Still, this doesn’t take away from the overall experience. The combination of natural beauty, excellent hospitality, and thoughtful touches makes this a truly special getaway. If you’re looking for a quiet, scenic, and well-managed stay in Jeju, this resort is definitely worth considering.

I had a fantastic one-night stay at Gil Pension to Gwaneumsa Temple in Jeju, perfectly set up for hiking Hallasan the next day. The place felt incredibly homely, thanks to the kind and caring halmeoni who runs it—her warmth made the whole experience special. The apartment is spotless, well-maintained, and very affordable, with basic amenities like shampoo, towels, and a kettle provided. Just remember to bring your own toothbrush, toothpaste, and body soap since only a half-used bar of soap is available, which might not be ideal for everyone. The location is a bit off the beaten path—while there’s a direct 10-minute bus ride to the trailhead, buses are infrequent, so checking schedules ahead of time is essential. I’d recommend taking a cab if you’re arriving late or heading out early. Also, dinner options are limited after 6–7 PM, so stocking up on food before arrival is wise. That said, when we arrived past 7 PM hungry and without a T-money card or Korean phone number to order food or call a taxi, the halmeoni was genuinely concerned and offered help despite her language barrier (she only speaks Korean). Her kindness went beyond expectations. It’s worth noting that luggage storage is available after checkout—very convenient for travelers with long itineraries. Overall, this is a hidden gem for hikers seeking a quiet, authentic, and stress-free base near Hallasan. Highly recommend for those looking for a peaceful, personal touch in their Jeju adventure.
