Alsterdorf Station is a charming transport hub in Hamburg's northern district, surrounded by quintessential German suburbia. The area's highlight is the picturesque Alster River tributary, flanked by red-brick houses and tree-lined streets straight off a postcard. Don't miss the Alsterdorfer Markt nearby - a lively weekend farmers' market where locals shop for fresh produce. Pro tip: Grab a Franzbrötchen (Hamburg's signature cinnamon pastry) from the corner bakery - it pairs perfectly with coffee for an authentic break!

Lindner Hotel Hamburg Am Michel, part of JdV by Hyatt
Staying at this hotel in Hamburg was an absolute highlight. Its central location is unbeatable—just a short walk from major attractions, shopping streets, and amazing restaurants. I was lucky to visit during the World Triathlon Championships, and the city was buzzing with energy. The hotel itself is housed in a beautifully restored historic building, blending old-world charm with modern luxury. The wide corridors are adorned with elegant antique furnishings that add character to every step. My room was spacious, thoughtfully designed, and incredibly comfortable, with high-quality furniture and smart layouts. The gym is compact but well-equipped with premium fitness machines—perfect for staying on track while traveling. One minor downside: the spa closes at 8 PM, which feels a bit early if you're hoping to unwind after a long day. Still, overall, the experience was outstanding. From the impeccable service to the attention to detail, this hotel offers exceptional value. I’d definitely return—this is one of the best stays I’ve had in Germany.

Grand Elysee Hamburg
Staying at Grand Elysee Hamburg was an absolute highlight of my trip to Hamburg. The location is perfect—just a 5-minute walk from Dammtor Station, making it super easy to get to the airport or downtown. I loved strolling around the neighborhood, with cozy cafés, boutique shops, and a really vibrant cultural vibe. Being in the diplomatic district, it’s quiet and safe, though there aren’t many nightlife options if you’re looking for late-night fun.
My deluxe room was stunning—modern minimalist design with just the right touch of vintage charm. The brass lamps and velvet sofa added such a luxurious feel. Floor-to-ceiling windows let in tons of natural light, and the motorized blackout curtains are a game-changer for sleep quality. The mattress was a real treat—Hypnos, used by the British royal family, made for one of the most restful nights I’ve had in years.
Plus, the free mini-bar stocked with non-alcoholic drinks and local snacks was a thoughtful touch. No need to buy anything extra. Everything about this stay felt premium without being over-the-top. 10/10—definitely coming back.

Le Méridien Hamburg
Staying at Le Méridien Hamburg was a wonderful experience overall. I booked a room with a great view, and it definitely lived up to expectations—especially during sunset, when the city skyline looked stunning. The only minor downside was construction right outside the front door, which made access slightly inconvenient, but it didn’t take away from the enjoyment. Parking fees were on the higher side, especially considering the room rate; including parking for guests or offering a discount would have been a nice touch. I was really hoping to check out the sauna and pool, but never got around to it—still a small regret. The breakfast was fantastic—fresh salmon, delicious fish salad, and plenty of cheese, all exactly what I love. Hamburg itself is such a beautiful city, and this hotel offers a perfect base to explore it. With its stylish vibe, excellent location, and top-notch breakfast, I’d definitely come back.

The breakfast experience was one of the highlights: a generous buffet with a wide variety of options, plus a complimentary à la carte menu featuring fresh, hot dishes made to order. I especially loved the perfectly cooked eggs and the selection of local pastries. The location is fantastic—just a short walk from the city center and well-connected by public transit. It’s rare to find such a high level of comfort, attention to detail, and service in one place. This hotel truly stands out, and I’ll definitely be back.

The front desk staff were not only friendly but also very professional—especially one guy who stood out with his great smile and helpful attitude. Room comfort was solid, though I noticed the air conditioning made a bit of noise when running—nothing too disruptive, though. Novotel Hamburg City Alster
Staying at Novotel Hamburg City Alster was a fantastic experience—right next to the train station, subway, and bus stop, making travel super convenient. The hotel is clean, well-maintained, and offers great value for money. I took my son here because he’s learning German and was curious if Hamburg really invented the hamburger—turns out, it’s not just a name! We explored the city, enjoyed some local food (yes, the burger was delicious), and even caught a quick subway ride to the airport in under 25 minutes. The location is unbeatable, and the staff were friendly and helpful. While I didn’t get any photos of the room, the overall vibe and comfort were excellent. Perfect for families or solo travelers looking for comfort, convenience, and a taste of real Hamburg life.

Holiday Inn Hamburg - City Nord
Stayed for five nights and couldn’t be happier with the experience. As a family of three, we were given a triple room where our child had their own little bed—so much fun and comfortable! Breakfast was excellent every day: fresh fruit, local pastries, and a great variety to choose from. We booked through the platform, and the front desk confirmed that city tax was already included, so no extra charges at all—great value for money. The room was cleaned daily, the kettle was handy for tea or coffee, and towels were promptly replaced. What really stood out was our room’s amazing view—directly overlooking the Elbphilharmonie and the giant Ferris wheel. At night, the lights made it absolutely magical. Location-wise, it’s perfect: right on the S-line between my husband’s office and the city center, making commuting super easy. Right outside is a lovely park with excellent greenery and wildlife—perfect for morning walks. I’ll definitely come back next time I visit Hamburg. Highly recommend this hotel!
