Porto Vista Hotel in Little Italy

Absolutely loved my stay! The room was spotless and well-equipped with a compact kitchenette, fridge, microwave, hairdryer, and iron—everything I needed for a comfortable trip. Located right in the heart of Little Italy, you’re surrounded by amazing restaurants and local flavors without having to go far. Just a 10-minute walk to the USS Midway Museum, which was a highlight of my visit. And the Gaslamp Quarter? Also just a short stroll away—perfect for dinner, drinks, and nightlife. The location is unbeatable, and the service was friendly and efficient. If you're looking for a great base in San Diego that combines convenience, charm, and value, this hotel is a top pick. Highly recommend!

Keating

I was extremely disappointed with my experience at this hotel. I booked a weekend stay and canceled four days in advance, only to be denied a refund of my $119 deposit. What made it worse was that after three weeks of back-and-forth communication—providing my credit card details, call dates, cancellation confirmation, even screenshots—they finally claimed there was a 'no-refund' policy. I had specifically asked about cancellation terms when booking, yet it took nearly a month to get this information. I repeatedly requested to speak with a manager, but never received any contact details or follow-up. It's shocking how a business operates without transparency or accountability. We had planned to make this hotel our go-to during frequent visits since our son attends SDSU, but now we’ll never return. This is not the kind of experience you want from a place you’re supposed to trust. I strongly advise against staying here.

Charming 2nd Ave Lofts in Downtown San Diego with Parking

Staying at this downtown San Diego loft was a decent experience overall. The location is excellent—right in the heart of the city, making it super convenient for walking to restaurants, shops, and attractions. The unit itself feels like a basic apartment with minimal furnishings, which is expected for this type of accommodation. However, one thing that stood out was the lack of sound insulation between units—neighbors’ conversations and noises were quite noticeable, especially at night. There are no private doors separating rooms, so privacy is limited. That said, having on-site parking was a big plus, especially if you’re driving. For travelers looking for affordability and central access without fancy amenities, this place offers good value. Just be prepared for a more open, less private living space.

Orange Tree Cottages Downtown

Staying at Orange Tree Cottages Downtown was an absolute delight! The cottage itself was cozy, clean, and well-maintained, with a charming vibe that made me feel right at home. Communication with the staff was prompt and friendly—any questions I had were answered quickly and clearly. The only minor hiccup was figuring out how to adjust the heating, but since the weather wasn’t too chilly, it wasn’t a big issue. There was some visible wear on the side door’s lower edge, allowing a bit of wind and rain in, but it didn’t affect our comfort. We did notice planes flying overhead at times, but the noise was minimal and didn’t disrupt our stay. Overall, this place exceeded my expectations. The location is fantastic, the atmosphere is peaceful, and the attention to detail is impressive. I’d absolutely book again—highly recommend for anyone looking for a unique, comfortable stay in downtown San Diego.

Motel 6 San Diego, CA - Airport - Harbor

This Motel 6 location is incredibly convenient—just a short walk from the aircraft carrier and Museum Park, making it perfect for travelers who want to explore without renting a car. The room was larger than expected, especially the queen bed and bathroom, which felt spacious and well-designed. Hot water and free coffee were a nice touch, especially in the morning when you need that boost. Being right off Highway 5 means easy access and plenty of free parking, which is a big plus for road-trippers. It’s clean, quiet, and offers great value for the price. If you’re looking for a no-frills, reliable stay near the airport with a solid location and basic comforts, this is an excellent choice.

Harborview Inn & Suites-Convention Center-Airport-Gaslamp-Seaworld-Zoo-Balboa Park

Staying at Harborview Inn & Suites was an absolute delight! The front desk staff, an elderly lady with a warm smile, was incredibly helpful and friendly—she made the entire experience feel personal. The location is perfect: just steps away from Little Italy for great dining options, and only a short walk to the seaside park. We loved strolling along the waterfront in the evenings—it’s peaceful and scenic. The hotel itself is clean, well-maintained, and very convenient for exploring San Diego’s top attractions like the Convention Center, Gaslamp Quarter, and Balboa Park. One small note: the shampoo wasn’t great, and they don’t provide body wash—just soap bars—but honestly, that didn’t ruin the stay. What really stood out was the free luggage storage, which came in super handy for early check-ins and late departures. Overall, this place offers excellent value, great service, and a fantastic location. Definitely recommend for travelers who want comfort and convenience in one spot.

Vantaggio Suites

We absolutely loved our stay at Vantaggio Suites—it was truly one of the best experiences during our year-long visit to San Diego! The spacious, clean rooms were perfect for relaxing after a long day, and the quiet atmosphere made it easy to unwind. The kitchen was fully equipped, which made preparing meals simple and convenient—great for saving money and enjoying home-cooked food. The staff, especially Jose, Luis, and Yuca, went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable. Their kindness and attention really stood out. And the location? Perfect. Right in the heart of Little Italy, steps away from fantastic restaurants, local shops, landmarks, and the famous farmer’s market on Wednesdays and Saturdays. It’s rare to find such a peaceful yet vibrant spot in the city. We couldn’t have asked for more. Definitely planning to return!

Guests are respectful and considerate, creating a peaceful atmosphere where you can relax or focus on your own things without distractions. The team is friendly and always ready to help, making the stay feel welcoming and stress-free. I loved the vibe, the location, and the overall experience—definitely planning to come back if I ever return to San Diego. Hotel Zindel

Staying at Hotel Zindel in San Diego was a fantastic experience. The location is unbeatable—just a short walk to restaurants, shops, and local favorites. Our room was spacious, clean, and incredibly comfortable, with great lighting and modern touches. We were assigned a street-facing room, which had some traffic noise, but it didn’t disrupt sleep at all—definitely not loud enough to be bothersome. The convenience of having a 7-Eleven just one block away made late-night snacks or essentials super easy. One thing to note: check-in isn’t available until 4 PM, and the access code is only sent later that day—so plan accordingly. Also, please be mindful about checkout time—access codes expire at 10 AM sharp, so you’ll need to leave on time or risk being locked out. Overall, this place offers excellent value, great service, and a prime spot in a vibrant part of town. Highly recommend for travelers who want comfort, cleanliness, and a central location.

Urban Boutique Hotel

Staying in the heart of Little Italy made this hotel an ideal base for exploring the area. It’s just a short walk to restaurants, and the bus and trolley stops are conveniently close—perfect for getting around without a car. The room is compact but spotless, with essentials like a hairdryer and iron included. While room service wasn’t part of the package, it didn’t matter much since I was only here for a brief visit. Overall, it’s a fantastic choice for solo travelers looking for a quiet, clean, and well-located stay in San Diego. Great value and a cozy vibe—would definitely return if passing through again.

Gaslamp Hostel

I'm giving this place a solid 5-star review! The hostel is clean, welcoming, and perfectly located for exploring downtown San Diego—super easy to get around by public transit. That said, I do need to mention something that concerned me during check-in: the front desk staff asked for my credit card, wrote down all the information by hand, and even removed the CVV protection sticker on the back of the card. It felt really risky and made me uneasy about potential fraud or misuse. While everything turned out fine, I’d strongly recommend the team reconsider this practice for guest safety and peace of mind.
