From the very first greeting, the service was exceptional—Esther from front desk went above and beyond: upgraded our room, offered a two-hour late check-out without hesitation, and even shared her WeChat for easy communication. That kind of personal touch is rare. Breakfast was an absolute highlight—huge variety, beautifully presented. From freshly steamed dim sum and handmade noodles to a wide selection of breads, oatmeal, fresh fruit, yogurt, and even ice cream, every detail was thoughtfully curated. But what truly stole the show was the garden. Lush green lawns, mature trees casting dappled sunlight, historic buildings nestled among foliage—perfect for quiet strolls or Instagram-worthy shots. Every corner feels like a scene from a film. The pool is clean and refreshingly salty—almost like swimming in the sea! Plus, there are two hot tubs nearby, perfect for unwinding. On day two, I asked the front desk, and learned the switch is actually hidden inside a small circular hole on the side of the nightstand—it’s connected to the power cord and just dropped into the hole! So clever, yet not very intuitive for guests. It’s one of those quirky design details you only discover after asking. Despite that little surprise, the service was excellent, the location is super convenient (close to subway lines), and the room comfort was top-notch. For those sensitive to caffeine, there were plenty of tea options to choose from, which was thoughtful and appreciated. But the real highlight? The famous Jinjiang Peking Duck. The skin turns a perfect amber hue, crisp yet not greasy, served with a house-made dipping sauce that elevates every bite. The scallions are plump, juicy, and sweet—perfect for cutting through the richness. Service was exceptional too. The concierge greeted me warmly and even offered a vintage-style luggage cart to transport me from the VIP Pavilion to Jinbei Building—a small touch, but it added so much character to the experience. Located on the site of the original 1926-era Cathay Apartments (the same owner as Peace Hotel), the building’s white architectural lines remain strikingly elegant. Since its founding by Ms. Dong Zhujun in 1951, the hotel has welcomed hundreds of heads of state from over 20 countries worldwide—earning its reputation as China’s premier guesthouse for international dignitaries. The garden is spacious and serene, with a stunning lawn that feels like a private oasis. Celebrating my 70th birthday with family, we chose J Hotel Shanghai Tower for a truly unforgettable experience. Perched high in the Shanghai Tower, this hotel occupies floors 86–98 and 101–120—officially recognized as the world’s tallest hotel—and it lives up to every bit of its reputation. The moment you step into the lobby, you’re greeted by a seamless blend of cutting-edge design and traditional Chinese artistry. Our room featured an intricately woven headboard with gold and silver threads, inspired by the shimmering reflections on the Huangpu River—elegant and deeply thoughtful. The bathroom was equally stunning, with a lotus-shaped bathtub that felt like stepping into a serene gallery. Throughout the stay, we were surrounded by over a thousand artworks from both local and international artists—each corner offered something new to admire, sparking endless photo ops. Breakfast was a highlight too: instead of a standard buffet, they offered a menu-based service, which made ordering easy and personalized. The 84th-floor swimming pool is breathtaking—floating above the city with panoramic views that make every lap feel like a moment suspended in time. We also enjoyed a lovely welcome amenity at the lobby lounge—sparkling water and delicate candied fruits that added a sweet touch. Our personal concierge, Miss Xiang, was warm, attentive, and genuinely delightful—her professionalism and kindness made all the difference. This isn’t just a stay; it’s an experience that blends luxury, culture, and heart. I’d return in a heartbeat.

Located just steps away from Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street, this hotel offers unbeatable convenience—everything you need is right outside the door. From popular stores like Pop Mart and M&M to local favorites such as Lailai Steamed Buns and Shen Dacheng pastries, plus a convenient Lawson for snacks and essentials, there’s no shortage of options. The room was spacious and beautifully appointed, with a comfortable bed and thoughtful touches that made the stay feel luxurious. Breakfast was a highlight—plenty of choices including Chinese, Western, and Japanese dishes, plus a nice selection of sparkling wine to start the day on a high note. It’s rare to find such a great mix of location, comfort, and value. I’d definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone visiting Shanghai.

Park Hotel Shanghai

Staying at Park Hotel Shanghai was an absolute highlight of my trip to Shanghai. The location is unbeatable—just a quick walk across the street from Exit 9 of People's Square Metro Station, making it super easy to explore nearby attractions like Nanjing Road Walkway and the Bund. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout my stay. Housekeeping was top-notch—towels were replaced daily, and all essentials were well stocked. Breakfast was a real treat: fresh coffee from the on-site grinder, quick refills, and efficient dish collection made mornings stress-free. I even ordered butterfly pastries room service style—no waiting in line, just delivered straight to my door. It’s clear this hotel cares about guest comfort and convenience. This is our third time staying at this hotel, and every visit has been outstanding. The room was spotless and beautifully decorated with a calming, elegant vibe. What really stood out was the heated toilet seat—such a small detail that made bathroom use incredibly comfortable and luxurious. The location is unbeatable: right across from the Postal Museum, just a 15-minute walk to Peace Hotel and the Bund, and super close to the Shiliupu Pier for evening Yangtze River cruises. My son said he always wants to stay here whenever we visit Shanghai—it feels like coming home. There’s a genuine sense of warmth and hospitality that makes you feel truly welcomed. The apartment has been freshly renovated with warm, homely touches that make you feel instantly at home. Everything was spotless—clean floors, crisp linens, and attention to detail in every corner. Staff were genuinely friendly and helpful, going out of their way to ensure a comfortable stay without being intrusive. It’s not just a hotel; it’s an experience. If you’re looking for authenticity, charm, and a quiet retreat in central Shanghai, this is absolutely worth it.

Staying at Tiancheng Hotel in Shanghai was a fantastic experience overall. The room was spacious, immaculately clean, and very comfortable—especially the bed, which offered just the right balance of softness and support for a restful night’s sleep. The staff went above and beyond with their friendly and attentive service; they were always ready to help with anything, from luggage assistance to local recommendations. Located just steps away from the subway station, getting around the city was incredibly convenient. With its excellent value, welcoming atmosphere, and prime location, this hotel is a top choice for any traveler. I’ll definitely be returning next time I’m in Shanghai.
