KYOTO TOKYU HOTEL

I couldn’t be happier with my stay at Kyoto Tokyu Hotel—this was truly one of the best experiences I’ve had in Japan. The room was prepared exactly to my request, which made me feel right at home from the moment I arrived. The executive lounge was a highlight: offering a wide range of snacks, coffee, tea, and even alcoholic drinks, perfect for unwinding after a long day exploring Kyoto. Room amenities were top-notch—everything was well-maintained, quiet, and functioned smoothly. The only small downside? The hairdryer was a bit outdated and took longer than expected to dry my hair, but it’s a minor issue. What really stood out was the exceptional service—the front desk staff were warm and attentive, and the shuttle service was seamless and thoughtfully arranged. The hotel shuttle stops just behind Kyoto Station, near the Hachijo East Exit, making transfers super convenient. It runs from 8 AM to 8:30 PM, so you can easily get into and out of the city without stress. I highly recommend this hotel—especially if you value comfort, convenience, and genuine hospitality. Check out my last two photos—they speak volumes about how much I enjoyed this stay!

Tokyu Stay Kyoto Sakaiza Shijo Kawaramachi

Staying at Tokyu Stay Kyoto Sakaiza Shijo Kawaramachi was an absolute delight! The facilities are incredibly well-equipped—having a small kitchen, washing machine, and dryer made it so convenient to prepare meals and do laundry on the go. The room was spotless and meticulously clean, giving a really welcoming feel from the moment we walked in. I especially loved the shared lounge area with its coffee and sake service—perfect for relaxing in the evening or enjoying a quiet morning. The staff were warm, friendly, and always eager to help, making the entire experience feel personal and thoughtful. Located just steps away from Gion and Shijo Street, getting around Kyoto is super easy via subway. This place offers incredible value for money and truly feels like home away from home. I’d absolutely stay here again.

Tokyu Stay Kyoto Sanjo-Karasuma

I really loved this hotel—it’s the perfect balance of being in the heart of Kyoto while still feeling peaceful and quiet. The location is super convenient for getting around: it’s just a short walk to Gion, Kiyomizu-dera, and other popular spots. There are tons of great restaurants nearby, especially one noodle shop right across from the hotel that’s always packed—definitely worth trying if you’re into local food. Just next to the noodle place is a pharmacy and cosmetics store that stocks rare items you won’t find anywhere else—great for picking up hard-to-find beauty products. I was able to leave my husband at the hotel while I browsed without any worries. The room was much bigger than the ones I’ve stayed in Osaka, and having a microwave and washing machine made things so convenient—I even had breakfast in the room. That said, the breakfast wasn’t worth the price—over 100 RMB for just a simple egg dish that tasted underwhelming. Still, overall, this hotel offers excellent value, comfort, and convenience for travelers who want to explore Kyoto without sacrificing comfort or privacy.

Nol Kyoto Sanjo

Staying at Nol Kyoto Sanjo was an absolute delight—definitely a 10/10 experience! From the moment we stepped in, it felt like we were entering a thoughtfully designed sanctuary. The location is unbeatable: just a 6-minute walk from the subway station, and surrounded by charming local streets perfect for wandering. The room itself is spacious and beautifully appointed—every detail feels intentional, from the elegant wood-toned decor to the high-quality finishes. It’s clean, fresh, and surprisingly humid (not dry), which made sleeping incredibly comfortable. The twin beds can be pushed together, and the mattress was supportive and cozy. I loved the wooden soaking tub, the smart dry-wet separation in the bathroom, and the large vanity with good privacy. Even better? There's a compact kitchenette with an induction cooker and a small saucepan—perfect for making tea or a quick meal. Staff were warm, attentive, and went above and beyond: they carried our luggage up, even hung our clothes neatly in the closet. They also shared great tips on nearby restaurants and shops—so helpful! One minor note: windows don’t open (they’re covered with frosted film), but light still filters through beautifully, so the space feels airy and bright. The TV doesn’t support screen mirroring, but honestly, that didn’t take away from the overall magic. We didn’t try breakfast this time, but based on everything else, it’s safe to say it must be excellent. This isn’t just a hotel—it’s a memorable stay with soul, charm, and true attention to comfort. Would book again in a heartbeat.

Park Hyatt Kyoto

Staying at Park Hyatt Kyoto was an absolute highlight—serene yet perfectly positioned in the heart of Kyoto. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was calm and elegant, a true oasis amidst the city. The room was cozy and thoughtfully designed, with luxurious bedding that made it hard to leave. The staff were incredibly warm and attentive, and I was so grateful for the multilingual team member who spoke fluent Chinese—she made check-in smooth and stress-free. Every detail felt just right: not too flashy, but full of quiet sophistication. Honestly, this place felt more comfortable than some other high-end hotels I’ve stayed at, and I already can’t wait to return. And the food? Don’t miss the on-site Western restaurant—while the Japanese dining experience is Michelin-worthy, their lobster pasta was a revelation. Rich, perfectly cooked, and bursting with flavor. It’s one of those meals you’ll remember long after you’ve left.

ROKU KYOTO, LXR Hotels & Resorts

Staying at this hotel was an absolute delight from start to finish. The room was spacious and incredibly comfortable, with a soothing in-room hot spring bath that made it easy to unwind after a long day. The outdoor pool is fed by natural hot springs—truly unique! I wish I’d brought my swimsuit, as I missed out on soaking in the warm waters, but I’ll definitely make up for it next time. Every corner of the property feels like a scenic masterpiece—beautifully designed with attention to detail, perfect for photography or just quiet contemplation. Breakfast was exceptional: a wide variety of fresh, delicious options ranging from local Japanese specialties to classic Western dishes. Six Senses Kyoto

Staying at Six Senses Kyoto was an absolute highlight of my trip to Japan. From the moment I walked in, the warm and thoughtful Japanese hospitality stood out—staff were polite, attentive, and genuinely welcoming without being overbearing. The hotel itself feels fresh and modern, with a strong emphasis on sustainability woven into every detail, from the food and drinks to the design. I couldn’t book the spa (it’s famously popular), but the on-site hot spring was a wonderful alternative—perfect for unwinding after a long day. The omakase restaurant downstairs was an unforgettable experience; watching the chef craft each piece of sushi with such precision and care felt like art in motion. Even though I had the place mostly to myself during dinner and drinks at the bar, service remained impeccable and personal. Breakfast was a half-self-service spread—I enjoyed the Western-style options, though the omelette could’ve been fluffier. The Japanese rice was excellent, and while other dishes were just average, the welcome fruits and little pastries added a sweet touch, even if they didn’t quite hit the mark flavor-wise. A small disappointment: no welcome champagne, but that’s just a minor note in what was otherwise a flawless stay. If you’re looking for a serene, eco-conscious retreat with exceptional service and culinary charm, this is it.

The Westin Miyako Kyoto

The Westin Miyako Kyoto truly lives up to its reputation—excellent quality and service throughout. Located in eastern Kyoto, it’s just a short walk from Exit 2 of the Keihan Subway's Katsuyama Station, making access super convenient. One of the highlights is the on-site hot spring bath—definitely worth trying if you’re looking to unwind. My initial room was near the street and a bit noisy, but after speaking with the front desk, they quickly arranged a room change. Special thanks to Mr. Yamane and another staff member who looked like a young Hikaru Nakamura (I mean, a little like Hikaru Nakamura—just kidding!)—they were incredibly helpful and polite. The hotel also offers a direct shuttle to Kyoto Station, departing at 8:00 AM on weekends and holidays, and 9:00 AM on weekdays, with departures every hour at :10 and :40—only 25 minutes to the station, perfect for travelers. Daily housekeeping kept the room spotless, just as clean as when I first arrived, and they even included calming essential oils each day. Breakfast was outstanding—especially the homemade onigiri corner, where a cheerful lady made some of the most delicious rice balls I’ve ever had. It’s definitely worth waking up early for. Overall, this hotel delivers comfort, convenience, and genuine hospitality—highly recommended!
