The sound of waves can be a bit loud if you're sensitive to noise, so I’d recommend requesting a room farther from the beach side or on a higher floor. The staff are exceptional from check-in to check-out; Kadosh and Taisa stood out with their genuine care and attention. The founder, Dany—a French visual artist—infuses every corner with her creative spirit, making the entire place feel like a living art piece. I stayed in the pink room, which was spacious, cozy, and incredibly welcoming. It's rare to find such charm, comfort, and personal touch in one place. This isn't just a hotel—it’s an experience. Grateful for the unforgettable memories.
Ipanema Inn Hotel
Staying at Ipanema Inn was a great experience overall, especially given its prime location just across the street from Ipanema Beach—walking to the sand is effortless. The free beach towels and chairs are a nice touch, making beach days even more convenient. The on-site restaurant delivers solid food quality with a welcoming vibe. While the room is compact, it’s clean and well-maintained. That said, the street noise can be intense, especially with ongoing construction nearby—something to consider if you’re sensitive to sound. The air conditioning drips water, and the shower setup isn’t the most user-friendly. The bed was also quite firm, which might not suit everyone. However, the highlight of our stay was the rooftop spa at their sister property in Arpoador. We had an incredible massage there—relaxing, professional, and worth every minute. Despite a few minor drawbacks, we enjoyed our three-night stay and would definitely return for the location and the exceptional spa experience.

Breakfast was included in my booking and offered a delicious taste of local Brazilian flavors—especially the cheese bread, which was fresh and flavorful. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. For the location, comfort, service, and value, this hotel truly earns every bit of its excellent rating. Highly recommended for travelers looking for a reliable, authentic Rio experience.

The bathroom had a fixed shower head over the tub—simple but effective. Overall, it’s a cozy, well-run place that truly delivered on comfort and convenience during our stay in Rio. Our stay at Gavea Tropical Boutique Hotel was a major letdown, especially considering we booked it for our first-year anniversary. The promised romantic touches—rose petals scattered on the bed and in the room—were completely missing upon arrival. When we asked the front desk staff, they said they’d place them only after we left for dinner. I asked, 'What if we don’t go out?' and got the reply, 'We’ll still put them.' We spent two hours away enjoying the jacuzzi, but returned to find nothing. The surprise we were promised turned into an empty promise. The complimentary wine offered in the package was just sitting in the fridge—no presentation, no style. When we asked about it, the staff responded with, 'You can pick any of the two!' (Seriously?) Then came the detox juice: advertised as a full pitcher, but at 11 PM we had to message via WhatsApp asking where it was. They admitted they forgot it, then brought two tiny cups—no sugar, nearly undrinkable. We left it there. The view was another disappointment: the brochure promised views of Christ statue and Lagoa, but all we saw was trees. After complaining multiple times, we were moved to a different room. Bathroom water was warm at night, but next morning it was freezing—hot water had run out. The pool water was cloudy and unusable. Breakfast was terrible: milk was gone, cheese wasn’t available, only ham and one odd-shaped bread. No salted bread. Just a few drops of juice in the cooler. Cups and mugs had to be requested, no cutlery. A couple nearby ordered eggs, and the kitchen staff said they were out. Nescau had barely a spoonful left in the jar, and the only dessert was a small orange cake with zero options. We were told an employee had gone to buy cheese, bread, and condiments—but never returned. We waited over an hour. Overall, this experience fell far short of expectations. The service was inconsistent, details were ignored, and the promises made during booking were not kept. It’s hard to recommend this hotel, especially for special occasions.

The location is great, close to attractions and easy to access via public transport. We felt safe, welcomed, and truly at home.
