We booked the daily 10 AM 'Wangzhuang Cruise' tour, which circles West Lake in about an hour. The boat itself is spotless, with comfortable upholstered seats, air-conditioned enclosed cabins, and panoramic glass windows that offer stunning views of both sides of the lake. I especially loved standing at the back deck to capture sweeping shots of the water and gardens—absolutely breathtaking. The highlight of the stay was the complimentary photography package. Breakfast was simple but spot-on: everything made in-house, from perfectly seared steaks to delicate wontons, juicy dumplings, and fresh salmon. It felt like a home-cooked meal with a luxury touch. For lunch, we dined at 1913 Restaurant—the signature West Lake Fish in Vinegar Sauce was outstanding, balanced and authentic. Our photographer from Xiao Wan Photography, Xiao Guo, was professional and passionate; my sister loved every single shot of her in traditional cheongsam. And then there’s Chen Bo, a true local with deep knowledge of Hangzhou’s history—he brought stories to life with warmth and humor. I booked a lake-view room, and it’s absolutely worth it—every morning and evening, waking up to the serene view of West Lake instantly lifted my mood. We arrived around 8:30 AM, and the staff member at the entrance immediately spotted us, rushed over, and helped carry our luggage despite the small steps leading to the front desk. We were planning to just drop off our bags, but the front desk agent, YY, kindly checked availability and offered early check-in—perfect timing since it was our wedding anniversary. She even called the revolving restaurant to confirm a table for dinner that night, and we were lucky enough to get one! After checking in, we headed out to explore, then returned around 5 PM to find our room beautifully decorated—such a sweet surprise, clearly arranged by YY. The buffet dinner runs from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM, and as a guest, we paid just 308 RMB instead of the regular 388—great value. The food was outstanding: unlimited Fo Tiao Qiang, and each guest received a generous large crab—huge and delicious. Breakfast was also served in the same rotating dining room, from 6:30 AM to 9:30 AM, where you can enjoy fresh dishes while watching the sunrise over the lake—truly unforgettable. When we asked about extending checkout to 1 PM, YY happily accommodated it. And when we left, she handed us complimentary bath products—a thoughtful touch that truly made the stay special. Every staff member we interacted with was warm, polite, and genuinely helpful. If I ever return to Hangzhou, this hotel will be my first choice. Highly recommended!
