Everything you need to know about Gupo Market

Lotus Hotel Haeundae Busan is a top choice near Gwacheon Market, just a 10-minute walk away. The hotel features modern rooms with sea views and balconies overlooking the coast, offering guests stunning vistas of the East Sea. Its proximity to Busan Metro Line 2 ensures easy access to the market and other key attractions.

Another excellent option is Haeundae Seaside Stay, a charming guesthouse located directly beside the market. With its private cottage-style rooms and cozy atmosphere, it’s ideal for families or couples seeking an authentic local experience. Guests can enjoy fresh seafood breakfast at the market each morning and stroll along Haeundae Beach in the evening.

Both accommodations combine prime location, local charm, and comfortable amenities, making them perfect for travelers eager to explore the vibrant food culture and bustling streets of Gwacheon Market.

At Gwacheon Market, one must try fresh seafood tasting at dawn—the market opens early, allowing visitors to witness fishermen unloading catches daily. You can select live seafood like fresh shrimp, octopus, and mackerel, then have it grilled on-site or served as oyster soup—incredibly flavorful and authentically local.

Don’t miss the traditional Korean street food stalls offering spicy stir-fried rice cakes, Korean fried chicken, and sliced blood sausage (mi-dong). For a deeper immersion, join a one-day seafood cooking class led by local chefs who teach how to pick quality seafood, prepare sauces, and cook a full traditional Busan meal—perfect for taking home memories of authentic flavors.

The adjacent night market square, lit up in warm hues, buzzes with life and offers a true glimpse into daily Busan culture. Every bite reflects the ocean’s essence and culinary craftsmanship—unforgettable and deeply rooted in local tradition.

From Gwacheon Market, take Busan Metro Line 2 for quick access to major sites. A single stop brings you to Haeundae Beach, where you can enjoy sea breezes and sunset views. Two stops further to Nampo Station allows transfer to Jagalchi Market, another iconic seafood hub.

For destinations like Daejeon Observatory or Gangchon Cultural Village, transfer to buses at Kimhae Station—a 25-minute ride with scenic views of urban and coastal landscapes. Nearby Busan Station and Busan Port are just 15 minutes away via metro, ideal for catching high-speed trains or ferries to Jeju Island and other regions.

Multiple bus routes outside the market also serve Gwangalli, Busan Tower, and Seo District Museum, many accepting T-money cards for seamless payment. Use apps like Naver Map or KakaoMap to plan your route efficiently and stay connected to Busan’s rhythm.

Yes, several hotels near Gwacheon Market provide complimentary shuttles. The Shangri-La Busan and Lotus Hotel Haeundae offer free airport and metro station transfers, covering Incheon International Airport and major Busan Metro Line 2 stations. These services are often included upon HopeGoo or can be arranged in advance by contacting front desk.

Additionally, boutique guesthouses like Seabreeze Guesthouse near the market provide free electric shuttle vans connecting the market to Haeundae Beach—ideal for travelers with luggage or mobility needs. These services enhance convenience and reduce travel stress.

It’s recommended to confirm shuttle details when HopeGoo through official websites or travel platforms, and check daily schedule availability. Some hotels even support multilingual customer service, including Chinese, ensuring smooth communication for international guests.

Space and Mood

This was my first stay at this place, and I’ve been thinking hard before writing this review. The hotel is located just a 5-6 minute walk from Lotte Department Store in Seomyeon, and it’s super easy to spot from the street—especially at night. The rooftop café is dazzling with its vintage, glamorous lighting, making it really stand out. But when I arrived late at night, I couldn’t find the entrance at all—it was completely dark, and I circled around the building twice before figuring it out. By the time I made it upstairs, I’d already missed the check-in deadline by ten minutes. The café was completely empty, no staff around, and I was stuck wondering what to do. Then I noticed a clear plastic pouch hanging on the door handle right across from the elevator. Inside was my name and room key. I tried swiping it—and voilà, the door opened! It felt like a little surprise welcome. Check-out was equally hassle-free: I left the key in the room at 11 a.m. and walked away without any formalities. That was perfect for me, especially since I’m not great with language barriers. I wanted to grab breakfast or lunch at the café, but the barista said they only serve drinks—no food. So I had to leave disappointed. The elevator also took forever, and every floor we passed revealed something unexpected: the hotel shares an elevator with a local community hospital. Every time the doors opened, I saw patients lying on beds—something that honestly made me uneasy as someone who’s paranoid about health and even bought an 8-million-KRW travel insurance policy. The room itself was average, nothing special—but at least they provided a toothbrush, which I appreciated. Overall, I’d say this feels more like a boutique-style apartment managed by the café rather than a traditional hotel. If you’re staying here just to experience the café vibe, be prepared: you won’t get to enjoy food there. A bit of a letdown, but still, the unique entry experience and low-key service were refreshing.

Brown Dot Hotel Sajik Baseball Stadium

Highly recommend Brown Dot Hotel! We stayed with three people, and the average cost per person was only 551 KRW—absolutely unbeatable value. The location is fantastic: just a short walk from Sajik Baseball Stadium, with easy access to public transit and tons of local eateries nearby. The neighborhood buzzes with energy, especially in the evenings. Our room was clean, well-maintained, and surprisingly quiet—great for a good night’s sleep. The staff were friendly and helpful, even offering to carry our bags upon arrival. It’s perfect for sports fans, travelers on a budget, or anyone looking for a comfortable and convenient base in Busan. I’ll definitely be back!

Hotel tt Seomyeon

Staying at this hotel was a great experience overall. The location is perfect—just a short walk from the subway, making it super convenient for exploring the city, shopping, and dining. It’s especially ideal for night owls who want to unwind after a long day of sightseeing or late-night adventures. If I ever return to Busan, this would be my top choice again. The only downside is the soundproofing—it wasn’t very effective. On my last night, neighbors were still loud well into the early hours. Also, the housekeeping staff arrived early and pushed their cart right outside the door, which made quite a bit of noise and woke me up. Despite that, the room was clean, the staff friendly, and the area incredibly vibrant. For the price and convenience, this place offers excellent value and is definitely worth considering.

Staying at Hotel Kyungsung was an absolute delight! The location is unbeatable—just a 5-minute walk to Lotte Department Store, making shopping and dining super convenient. There are countless restaurants and small shops all around, so you never have to go far for a bite. Plus, the subway station is just a short stroll away, giving easy access to other parts of Busan. The front desk staff were incredibly friendly and helpful—always smiling and ready to assist with anything. One of the highlights? Free coffee on the rooftop terrace! It’s the perfect spot to unwind with a view of the city. This hotel truly delivers on comfort, service, and convenience. Highly recommend it for any traveler visiting Busan.

Central Seven Hotel by Kwon Busan Seomyeon

Staying at Central Seven Hotel by Kwon in Busan was a fantastic experience overall. The location is incredibly convenient—just a short walk from Budaek Station on Line 1, either exiting through Exit 1 and crossing the street or coming up from Exit 9 of Budaek Underground Shopping Mall. The front desk is located on the 17th floor, and while only the 1st and 17th floors don’t require access cards, all other floors are secured with card entry, which adds a nice layer of safety. Staff were friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help with any request. On-site, you’ll find a GS25 convenience store and a Starbucks, plus the lively Budaek Market just steps away. It’s also close to Seomyeon, making dining and shopping super easy. Housekeeping came daily, and everything was spotless—the bathroom had a great hairdryer, and they even provided shampoo and body wash, so no need to pack extras. My only personal note: the room has carpeted flooring, which I’m not a fan of, but that’s just a matter of preference. Otherwise, the space felt spacious, well-lit, and included a full-length mirror—a nice touch for travelers. Overall, this is a top-tier choice for a comfortable, safe, and well-located stay in Busan.

Urbanstay Seomyeon

First time visiting Busan, and I highly recommend this hotel! It’s incredibly convenient—just a 3-5 minute walk to the tour pickup point, perfect for day trips. You won’t waste time rushing around. The room comes with a microwave and fridge, so I could prep breakfast the night before and just heat it up in the morning—super practical. Right downstairs is a 24-hour Emart24, and they even have Wowpass, which made grabbing snacks or essentials super easy. The only thing I didn’t use was the washing machine—didn’t bring laundry detergent, and it wasn’t mentioned in the instructions, so I assume you’d need to bring your own. Still, that’s a tiny detail in an otherwise excellent stay. Great location, smart amenities, and fantastic value. Definitely coming back!

Browndot Business Seomyeon

This was my second stay at Browndot Business Seomyeon, and I’m even more impressed this time around. The location is fantastic—just a short walk from the subway, with two great dining options right downstairs: a cozy izakaya and a fresh seafood spot, plus a popular whiskey bar that’s always buzzing. The room itself is spacious and immaculately clean, with fast check-in and a standout bathroom that feels like a mini retreat—huge space, full-length mirror, and complimentary slippers. The heated floor made it so cozy during winter, I actually opened the window to cool down! Staff are polite, helpful, and went out of their way to assist with an Uber request. Everything about this place screams value for money. I’ll definitely be back—this is one of the best stays I’ve had in Busan.

Toyoko Inn Busan Seomyeon

Staying at Toyoko Inn Busan Seomyeon was a great experience overall. The location is quite convenient, especially for getting to the airport quickly and efficiently—perfect for early morning flights or late-night departures. One thing to note: there’s no elevator at Exit 8, so it’s better to use Exit 10 when leaving the station. Breakfast was surprisingly diverse compared to the Haeundae branch—plenty of hot dishes, fresh bread, and beverage options, making it a satisfying start to the day. The area around the hotel is lively and well-connected: there are good BBQ spots, convenience stores, and even a popular ox intestine restaurant nearby. I loved strolling around after dinner and soaking in the local vibe. Rooms were clean, quiet, and well-maintained, with thoughtful touches like a small welcome gift. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout. If you’re looking for a reliable, comfortable stay in Busan with excellent access and local flavor, this is definitely a top pick.

Choeup Karat Hotel

Staying at Karat Hotel in Busan was an absolute delight. The owner couldn’t have been more welcoming and friendly—genuine hospitality from start to finish. The bed was incredibly comfortable, soft yet supportive, making for a restful night’s sleep. Every corner of the room was spotlessly clean, and the bathroom was spacious and well-maintained—definitely not your average motel standard. It felt more like a modern office-style apartment with a premium touch. The bright, airy interior gave it a fresh, upscale vibe that truly lived up to its name as a hotel. Everything was thoughtfully designed, from the layout to the attention to detail. If you're looking for a clean, comfortable, and well-located stay in Busan, this is a top recommendation. Busan Choeup Yuna Hotel

Absolutely outstanding experience! Even though I didn’t take any photos, the stay was truly exceptional. The hotel is incredibly convenient—just a short walk from Sajik Indoor Stadium, perfect for visitors attending events or exploring the area. The room was clean, bright, and spacious enough for two people, with plenty of room to unpack our luggage without feeling cramped. What stood out most was the amazing value for money—affordable pricing without compromising on comfort or quality. The staff downstairs were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making us feel at home right away. From the moment we arrived, everything felt thoughtfully arranged. If you're looking for a comfortable, well-located, and budget-friendly option in Busan, this place is a must-book. I’ll definitely be returning.
