Staying at City Lodge Accommodation in Auckland was an absolute highlight of my trip! The location is fantastic—just a short walk from Queen Street and the waterfront, making it super convenient for exploring the city. I arrived from the international airport via the North Line train and then transferred to the NX1 bus, which took about an hour. With an AT Hop card, the fare was only around $5—great value for such a smooth journey. The room is on the smaller side, but perfectly functional with smart space utilization. What really stood out was the shared kitchen—it’s fully equipped and perfect for cooking up a storm. I even joined a group of fellow travelers to make and bake pizza together (check photos 2 and 3)—such a fun, social vibe! The area right outside the front door (photo 1) is clean, safe, and welcoming. Plus, the building is quiet at night, so sleep quality was excellent. Overall, this place offers great value, a friendly atmosphere, and unbeatable convenience. Ideal for solo travelers or small groups looking to connect and explore Auckland like a local.

One of my top hostel picks in Auckland! The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making the stay feel more like home. Right outside the door is a bus stop—super convenient for getting around the city without needing to walk far. The dorm rooms are spacious, spotlessly clean, and each comes with a locker, fridge, air conditioning, and windows that open for fresh airflow. I also stayed in a private room, and it was just as impressive—clean, well-equipped with a fridge, AC, and a dedicated desk and chair, perfect for working or relaxing. Great value, great vibe, and an excellent choice for travelers who want comfort, convenience, and a friendly atmosphere.

However, the biggest downside was the noise at night. Even with windows closed, sounds from a nearby sports bar and nightclub carried through, keeping me awake until around 5:30 a.m. Opening the window to cool down only made it worse. If you're sensitive to noise, definitely bring earplugs or request a quieter room when booking. Overall, it’s a solid choice for travelers who value location and affordability, but be prepared for some urban hustle and bustle after dark.
