Our 8-day self-drive trip across Shaanxi ended with a stay at Platinum Wan'ao Victory Hotel in Xi'an, and overall, it was an excellent choice. The location is incredibly convenient—right across from Hepingmen Metro Station, just a 50-meter walk away, making public transit access seamless for exploring the city. The hotel faces the ancient city wall directly, and it’s only about a 1.7-kilometer stroll to Yongning Gate if you want to walk along the wall—a pleasant way to enjoy the historic surroundings. Upon check-in, the front desk proactively upgraded us to a larger room, which made a big difference: spacious enough to comfortably unpack and move around, and ideal for family travel. Cleanliness was spot-on, meeting standard expectations without any issues. One minor drawback is the parking situation—being a multi-level garage, it’s not the most user-friendly, especially for larger vehicles, though my compact car navigated it easily. Breakfast was decent but not particularly impressive by luxury hotel standards—nothing overly elaborate, and we didn’t receive a third breakfast for our parents, which was slightly disappointing since this was one of only two hotels on the entire trip that didn’t offer it. Still, considering the excellent location, helpful staff, room comfort, and overall value, it’s hard not to give high praise. For travelers prioritizing convenience and a solid base in central Xi’an, this hotel is a strong recommendation.

I accidentally left behind a keychain with a photo of my family—a handmade keepsake from my child—on the counter while rushing to catch my train after check-out. It wasn’t until I reached the station that I realized it was gone, and panic set in. That little keychain held more than just keys—it carried irreplaceable memories. I decided to reach out to the hotel, hoping for any help. To my surprise, Xiao Zhu answered right away, speaking with such calm kindness: "Don’t worry, we’ve kept it safe for you. Would you prefer to come back to pick it up, or should we send it via express delivery?" When she learned I’d already left the city, she immediately offered to ship it free of charge—using SF Express—and even took extra care to wrap it securely in bubble wrap to protect the photo. The next afternoon, the package arrived. Inside, everything was intact, and tucked beneath the keychain was a handwritten note: "Wishing you a smooth journey—may this cherished keychain continue to guard your safety." Just a small act, but it brought tears to my eyes.
