A quick note: the front desk is located on the 12th floor, so it’s essential to contact them in advance to confirm your entry point. Plus, compared to the often overpriced or cramped options nearby, this place offers much better value for money. The homestay is located in the Huarong Yuefu apartment building right next to Kunming’s massive Vientiane City mall—super easy to find and access via taxi. The room itself is a two-level layout, feeling more like a cozy home than a hotel. The second floor has two beds, a dressing table, and plenty of space—perfect for families with kids. The ground floor includes a living area and bathroom, which is a bit small but functional. The interior design is stylish yet comfortable, giving a lived-in feel without sacrificing quality. Self-check-in is straightforward, and the host is always responsive—messages are answered instantly. Around the area, you’ll find plenty of trendy shops, Instagram-worthy cafes, and a popular local food street nearby, where places like Dongjiawan Vietnamese Spring Rolls draw long lines. It’s lively, authentic, and full of flavor. If you’re looking for a peaceful stay with great value, easy access to attractions, and a real home-like vibe, this is an excellent choice.

SilkTree Hotel

Staying at SilkTree Hotel in Kunming was an absolute delight from start to finish. The building itself has a modern, elegant vibe with a spacious and beautifully designed lobby that makes a great first impression. Parking is convenient and private—no stress finding a spot. The rooms were immaculate, spotlessly clean with brand-new amenities throughout—everything felt fresh and well-maintained. Staff went above and beyond: friendly, professional, and always ready to help. From front desk to housekeeping and dining staff, everyone showed genuine warmth and attentiveness. Breakfast was a highlight—great mix of Western and Chinese options, presented beautifully and tasting even better. I especially loved the Hometown Rice Noodle soup—it was rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. Plus, we received complimentary welcome fruit and a 18-yuan voucher for their signature dish, plus free snacks in the mini-bar. Such thoughtful touches make a big difference. This hotel offers incredible value and comfort. I’ll definitely be back and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Kunming.

Grand Park Kunming

Staying just one night, but it felt like a perfect escape. The location is fantastic—easy access to downtown by metro, and best of all, no crowds at all. Traveling off-peak truly lets you enjoy the city at your own pace. The service here was exceptional, especially from Alan at reception. He upgraded my room for free upon check-in, and when I mentioned wanting to try the sauna, he not only confirmed we had a private steam room but went the extra mile to arrange it just for me. Turns out the facility is usually only opened when there are guests booking in, so having it reserved exclusively for me was a real surprise—and a wonderful touch. It made the whole experience feel personal and special. Definitely worth every penny, and I’ll be back.
